Saying that Illuso died of illness was technically right but it's also a huge understatement considering how violently he died. There weren't any blood and guts but his face getting ripped off by Purple Haze's barrage of punches before turning into a gooey mush was brutal.

Giorno was able to make a vaccine for the Purple Haze virus and that's awesome. Looking at how he was writhing in agony compared to how he was when he was infected though. The combination of that hole GE made in the snake reflecting on him with the puncture he made in his own chest and the vaccine itself doing its job... Ouch.

Man in the Mirror had control to pull people into his own dimension, similar to Death 13's control of dreams, Atom Heart Father's photo dimension, and of course, also emulated Hanged Man's mirror properties. The ramifications of how the power worked loosely reminded me of Superfly when Purple Haze was attacking outside. Similar in the way of having a specific rule set of which you can impact the room you are trapped in. The fight continued to become another team fight, one where it takes everybody's effort and sacrifice. Sacrifice including cutting off one's hand to allow the stand to escape, an allusion to Kira.

All of this chaos with the individual tricks such as Moody Blues imitating Abbacchio to enter the mirror world, or Giorno using the virus and later creating a vaccine through the snake born within the conditions of the virus. So we have a complex, moving, group fight and following that it also focuses on character.

Perhaps one could argue that the character backgrounds were shoved in clumsily, as there was already so much going on. Yet they were still insightful. Fugo was born as a wealthy prodigy, who's violent disposition; symbolized as a monstrous and destructive stand like a Purple Haze, got him kicked out of school. Yet he rarely shows his inner demon and uses his stand, showing immense self control. Abbacchio on the other hand got a traditional flashback. A disillusioned cop who ended up playing into injustice and only met with nihilism and despair. Now he is an unfeeling and perfect soldier, prioritizing the end goal it seems. The line:
There is only one time he can achieve inner peace: when he is following orders from a grand and absolute entity.(A soldier doesn't need to think…)
Somewhat frighteningly matches well with Dio's offer to Polnareff:
What's wrong with serving me? By serving me you can easily obtain peace of mind.
Yet his character arc has already been initiated, Giorno being proof that a man can be just in this world, and being the one who can usher in the world Abbacchio presumably left behind as nothing more than a pipe dream.
