Asking this here since asking in the series discussions doesn't seem to do any good and doesn't seem to give me the help I need.

I watched the Nabari no Ou anime but I discovered that the manga version deviates from the anime.

Do I really HAVE to read it? I really don't see what the problem was with the anime. I quite liked it. But obviously that's just IMO.

If someone could help me out here and tell me if I really HAVE to read the manga version of Nabari no Ou I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you.
I like what everyone hates and hate what everyone likes. So I'm controversial. I guess.

You don't have to do anything.

The Anime isn't all that much of a faithful adaptation, but if you liked it, all the power to ya.

If you want to see how the story was intended to be, I suggest reading it.

Alright. I have to read LOTS of manga after finding out all this bad news so what's one more?

I guess I would strongly recommend reading the manga as opposed to the anime because it is a poor adaptation. You're not OBLIGATED to, certainly no one is forced to watch/read and anime/manga, but in this case I strongly recommend the manga over the anime. In the anime the pacing is awful, the characterization is weakened, the ending contradicts the whole point of the series to begin with and numerous other things. There are lots of ideas of existentialism and perspectives on creating utopia when given the means to do so, etc in the manga that is much more realized and thorough. The manga is actually incredibly dense with a lot of things going on in even tiny bits of dialogue that you have to piece together and pretty much all loose ends are tied and almost everything makes sense. The ending of the manga has a more forgiving yet still bittersweet ending that is very appropriate and uplifting but has compromise so that it isn't sugar sweet. The manga isn't PERFECT, but at the same time it kind of is in my book, there's just so much complexity and pathos that any faults are very minor and thrown under the bridge.
