| You need to register that person's friendcode on your MK Wii disc. First, go online. Next, choose Friend, then choose to Add/Register a new friend. Afterwards, you need to enter the 12-digit Friend Code of the person you want as your online friend. Once you have entered that person's friend code, thus adding him/her to your friend roster/list, half the job is complete. The friend registering process is a two-way street. Now, you'll need to wait for that person to add you as a friend using the same steps. Until then, the person you entered as an online friend will appear as a question mark in your friend roster. Make sure the other person adds you as his/her online friend. Otherwise, you and that person won't be able to play online together.
