After his training with Havoc, Kensei had a greater sense of what he was dealing with. He had learned much not only about how to deal with bloodlines, but about the history of bloodlines themselves after a bit of research. It astounded him that some people were simply born "better" at this than others, and resolved to never fall prey to bloodline limit user again.
The brotherly bonds they were forming aside, Kensei had to be wary of Havoc. He already knew the extent of his abilities, and that he could not stand against him should push come to shove. Yet despite their friendlyness, the political relationship between their villages balanced on a knifes edge, and could be thrown into chaos at any time.
He descided to seek comfort and calm in some basic training. It felt nostalgic to him, as he had almost forgotten all about his puppetry after the incident with his leg. He had leaned on his ninjutsu and electrical provess, but when it came down to it he was a Watergate and had a family legacy to carry on. His father expected him to develop his puppetry and start building his own puppets, but the only thing kensei had done in the puppet department was the development of the Twins and retrofitting Igor with some electrical gadgets. Hardly what passed for Watergate-grade puppetry.
As he was playing with Igors chakra strings, making the puppet shadow-box against an invisible enemy, he noticed an aptitude for controlling the thickness of the string. He had a feel for it, being able to visualize and execute both thin and strong strings invisible to the eye. He had learned from his father that the epitome of puppetry was being able to make the thinnest string with the strongest durability, but Kensei felt an aptitude towards a different path alltogether. He found he could more easily control the string if he made it thick enough to be seen, and even run lightning chakra through it.
"Now thats something.." He noted, as he found that if he abandoned the concept of hiding the strings from his enemy, he could do much more with it with much little effort. By not concentrating on the thickness at all, he found he could strengthen and electrify it to an alarming degree. He wanted to figure out how strong they were, and lifted the puppet straight off of the ground by the strings. Making puppets fly was no big feat for puppeteers, but Igor was exceptionally heavy with his electrical retrofits and machine parts. One by one Kensei disconnected the strings, until he found his breaking point at two strings, which could only hold the puppet for a few seconds before breaking. He figured if two could do this, then five or ten could do some pretty extraordinary things with training.
Diving into the scrolls of his family, he tried applying this style of string-control with most of his familys regular and Hiden-techniques. Out of which only a slight few were viable with this new style. He spent the most of the following couple of days refining and experimenting with everything from Igor carrying weights to shuriken, kunai, swords and furniture. He found some pretty nifty application of the strings, and when the weekend was over he had come up with way more and way better then he had hoped. He was, after all, rather sceptical towards his family legacy. He had with this style however finally found his place and his contribution to the family art.
He descided to take his discovery to the Kage manor for registration. Like a tryhard-inventor looking to patent his findings, he wanted these techniques on record before applying them in the field. He grabbed all of his gear and headed outside, excited for the first time in a while.
