I was completely lost about half way of the manga, when the anime started to deviate from the manga. The crazy people started showing up and then all the nudity. I am just baffled how weird everything turned out to be. All the mental and relationship stuff really threw me off from what I felt about the anime, which I watched first. The manga storyline didn't focus on Sato being a hikikomori, like he magically got over it near the ending. I think the overall feel of the anime is more realistic than the anime. I couldn't believe how crazy people like Yamazaki and Misaki turned out. Too crazy for my taste.

And most importantly, the Misaki in the anime is much more loveable than the manga version. I mean, the girl in the manga is just nutcase that I lost interest in halfway. I didn't feel anything for her like I did for the anime one. I felt so sad and sorry for the anime, but the manga one I just thought to myself... "wtf?'.

Anime gets a 4/5 from me. It's just a nice anime that makes you feel all sorts of emotions. The only things I dislike are the dramatic boat scene and the crazy ending with Sato ruining the moment.

Manga gets a 2/5. I gave it a 2 only because it was very good halfway. The other half is just trash.

To be honest, I loved both. The manga went ahead and focused on the other people more than the anime such as Yamazaki's relationship, and the parts where Hitomi and Satou got more often than in the anime was some of the best parts as well. The anime was perfect too in it's own way like the manga, but the manga has had a LOT more depressing moments which I absolutely loved.

The ending for both were great in their own ways and I can't really say which I prefer more and I can say that both are very realistic anyway.
No matter what kind of life a person leads, they will always die in the end. That is only fair.
And in life did you know a person only has two choices to choose from?

"To do" or "Not to do"! That's it!!

Hot take manga better. Better expands relationships that the anime cut (only first half is adapted with changes to events adapted incl ending), art is always good unlike certain episodes that was awfully animated.

What I liked the most about the manga was the psychoactive drug usage and Cannabis growing operation, among other happenings in that utter craziness. Oh man, when his mother walks in on him watching his multi-screen pornos.... The anime was definitely better, though. I get the person who said "the manga made me hate Misaki" lmfao, not that Sato acted any better-off in the manga. Well, he kind of did, I guess. Overall, if you enjoyed the manga, or the anime, or the novel, I'd recommend all 3 if you enjoyed any which one.

Oh yeah!! Another manga only moment was when he taped the drugs to his nostril with a straw or whatever going up into his nostril from the taped-together bag, so that he could snort the hallucinogenic stimulant chemical as he masturbated to multiple pornos on multiple different screens at the same time (then his mother walks in the un-locked bedroom door..).

NGL! There are a few comic-only parts that I do WISH were included in the animated cartoon.

My opinion is actually the complete opposite. I dislike the anime precisely because of how unrealistic and utopian it is. The anime portrays Misaki as a perfect angel waifu who, despite her suffering, finds meaning in helping others. In contrast, the manga's Misaki is a complete nutcase—a histrionic, sadistic, and manipulative character, which makes her a far more feasible and compelling person.

The anime's tone is also overwhelmingly upbeat and romantic compared to the manga, which is much darker, more depressing, and frankly, insane. The characters are portrayed better in the manga, too. Where the anime reduces them to idealistic goody-two-shoes, the manga paints them as deeply flawed people who make numerous mistakes. That feels human; that feels real.

I will concede that the anime has one advantage: a more consistent ending with far better pacing. The manga's ending was clearly rushed, relying heavily on time-skips and info-dumps. It seems many ideas were underdeveloped and fell short, likely because the series was performing poorly and was axed by executives. Plot lines like Yamazaki's host club work, the class rep becoming a shut-in, Hitomi and Jougasaki's reconciliation, and most importantly, the evolution of Sato and Misaki's "love contract," all felt like they were cut short from what should have been many more chapters of development.

Still, as choppy as the ending was, I believe the manga is superior in every other way, and I genuinely don't understand how anyone could think otherwise. To me, the anime is just a generic rom-com with a hikikomori coating, while the manga actually delves into the realities of social withdrawal and mental illness. It's less of a romance and more of a psychological drama. Frankly, I also found it way more entertaining.

I never read the manga, but I read the novel. It does a lot more to explain things, but I still prefer the anime.

Anime. Just the feeling and atmosphere of it is stellar and atleast the events make more sense, though sato remains utterly dislikeable and annoying. The anime is still pretty flawed, mainly bcs of the mc. I still question how much i like it bcs of that.

Top 10 best openings ever too

The light novel tbh.

If I had to choose between the anime or manga though, I'd probably pick the manga version. Yeah Misaki is a lot more of a bitch, but she's also a lot more human. Also they show the drug usage unlike the anime. The anime just leaves it up to you to guess why Satou is as bat-shit crazy as he is.

It's originally a regular novel, not a light novel.

Does the manga have this?

The answer is no, so the anime is better
