Psycho-Pass 2 was crap, so I don't really wanna finish it. :/
But the makers of the movie are the same people who made the first Psycho-Pass, so I do want to see the movie, but if the movie is a continuation of Psycho-Pass 2 that means I'll be forced to sit through that garbage. :(

So I wanna know is the movie going to be a direct continuation of Psycho-Pass 2 or is it its own stand alone thing?

Psycho Pass 2 never happened because Urobuchi didnt right it.

You shouldn't call PP2 crap without having finished it, but nothing particularly important happened in it and the plot of the movie is unrelated. If you really don't want to watch PP2 then it will be fine to just skip to the movie.

...The new Fate anime is based on the original visual novel, which was written before Fate/Zero. By your logic, F/Z is the one that is fanfiction.

I wouldn't say their unrelated to each other, since there are characters from S2 on Akane's team in the movie. Plus Mika is there and you have to know who the hell Mika is to get a good grasp as to why she is the way she is given S2's ending.

I don't really care though, all they have to do is say that Shinya is in it and that's all it takes to get me hopeful it will be good.

Movie is a prequel to PP2. Action is between season 1 and 2 so you don't have to watch second season, if you don't want to.

Psycho-Pass Movie is not a Prequel to Psycho-Pass 2, It's a sequel!

Yes, it's a sequel to s2, it's set around 2 years after s2 (which is 2.5 years after s1)
No, you don't need to have watched s2, the asspull dominator appears for a few scenes, the new characters appear for a few scenes, but you don't really need to know about either as their involvement is clear and straight-forward.
The story is all set in shambala floats, there's no mention of anything that happened in s2 (Kirito, Togane, Aoyanakill, mass CC) in the spoiler summaries.
You can just pretend it never happened.

Movie is just Akane solving conspiracies in thailand, plus character development.

Psycho Pass 2 is a filler that happens after season one.

Movie is sequel of season one.

Psycho Pass 2 is bullshit and unimportant, watch it whenever you want since it really won't matter, actually don't watch it because it's a really gay and boring filler that is just meant to waste your time and give your the most shittiest ending possible, in fact that ending was worse than i imagined, so i guess it can blow you away with an amazingly shitty ending.

Finally someone else on here likes it. It isn't a masterpiece but it's still good. I enjoyed watching every minute of it. Can't wait for the movie either, although according to a review it's more of a standalone story than a true sequel to Psycho-Pass 2.

The sniper dominators are actually one of the things I really liked that came out of season 2. Shows that they're prepared for situations where a normal dominator isn't able to do the task. If it wasn't for stuff like that then they would come across as a very weak, unprepared law enforcement agency.

I still don't understand why people hate the sequels than the first one anyway. Yup, I seen this movie & I really really missed Psycho-pass anyway.

I'm curious for the continuity especially loose ends over season 1 but IF you guys disagree with it that's FINE. I'm just here stating my emotional thoughts & reactions over this anime like others are. And it's because I'm simply a big fan of anime & is just that I'm getting too passionate over it.

I've jump straight from S1 to the movie and i can tell:

- S2 is really not necessary.

This movie is not bad, but kill all your spectations you could have with the rest of the series.

It is a good complement to season 1, but in the way "forget your hopes, the end of S1 is all what you have".

So i'm confidant that i'm not going to watch anything more from Psycho-Pass.
