| Heya, I don't know if you're actually going to be checking on people's banners. And unfortunately, I know my schedule won't allow me to check regularly for you guys either... BUT to make it easier for whoever does do the checking, if you are going to do it, here's a list of the people who have requested banners (up to this point*) with links to their profile pages (because it's easy to just follow links in new tabs, right?). Alphabetized by Username: *I'm not really intending to continually update this list like the others, but I'll do it once in a while if I have the time. If someone else is going to do it regularly: it was pretty easy to set this up on a spreadsheet and I can email it to you if you'd like. Hope this helps! |

| oh my god, thank you SO much for creating this list! ok... i think i'm going to seriously start looking into this "banner check" i'm thinking of making a list and put people according to the day of the week... for example... monday -username- -username- tuesday -username- -username- etc... cept there are some flaws such as having to update this list frequently there's already a lot of lists that need to be updated frequently Another thing I was thinking is that on, let's say, every Friday, particular people are assigned to do certain letters such as lowell checking up on series from A-D for the users that don't have their banners up, make a list from that and PM the user that their banner isn't up. If everyone has a small section, then it's easier to keep track. Of course, I'm not talking about the people who are making banners to take on this job. I want a separate group of people making banners and a separate group of people doing banner checks i don't want people putting waaay too much work into this unless you're absolutely willing to. would there be any other suggestions? |
| Well, I let melancholy know what I thought by PM, but I'll try and explain it my ideas here. For the most part, like melancholy pointed out, I thought people who wanted to help but had zero Photoshop-type skills could be recruited to do this. If some of the banner makers did want to volunteer, that would be their choice. It would probably only be most difficult in the beginning. Splitting up the complete list alphabetically for now among checkers does sound like the best idea. It sounds simple, anyway--check the member's profile or signature for the banner, make sure it's linked to the thread (the proper one ^.^), and PM them politely to correct anything they need to. We'd need really patient people for this, if the member doesn't know how to link or something. Perhaps one person in charge of the checkers? Since they'd need to confirm they were checking properly, and report in about members who might need to have their characters taken away after failing to adhere to the rules--and melancholy's already pretty busy. I already offered to do this, but for the time being there might end up being so few checkers that it may not be necessary to have a "leader." Bleh, it didn't come out as well as I liked. Any other thoughts? |

I'll recheck my portion then to see if people fixed their links too, but for the people who didn't have banners and potentially still don't, probably just a message to you, melancholy, to have them removed? And whenever there's a new list of all the newcomers since last time, I'll help check again. ^.^ |

| Hello, I've had to quit helping out making banners as I am simply not efficient enough.. Since I lack photoshop (I use a mac thing.. it's better than paint by far but it is no photoshop), and I am generally too committed to MAL elsewhere. But, one thing I can do is spend a certain amount of time once a week on checking up on people, which I certainly wont fail at. It's just much easier for me to go "okay, Tuesday is check up on people day". (or whichever day)... also, if you guys need help with sending PMs to people well.. I do it.. a lot. Too much :( for me, what's usually best is not around the end of the month, nor the middle of the month, nor Sunadys once FAL starts in a few weeks, nor Wed-Friday because of moe.... nor Monday because of Kendo (wow an irl thing!) Just not Wednesdays as it's kendo + moe :P |

| ok... i finished PMing all the users. They all received final notice and i told them all we'll do a final check on Wednesday, February 27. If there is no banner/no link back to the thread, then their claim will be removed. I was also considering to disallow them to claim a character afterwards... but i wanted to get your input on that. It doesn't seem fair, but it also seems kinda pointless if we don't. I mean, once we remove their claim, can't they just claim another character? rawr i don't know how to handle such a situation... |
| Maybe not forever, but just a probationary period like a month or something? Because of all the trouble everyone goes to--the character is claimed and no one else can claim them, the banner maker, the checkers, and after everyone's hard work they still don't do or fix anything? Not cool. But it would make sense after all that they would learn their lesson, and maybe they shouldn't be penalized forever. I like a month, but maybe you'd like it to be more. After a second time and they fail again to do it right again, I say they're done forever. |

And of course as we've all seen, some people don't bother to read the front page, so there are those as well who just didn't know they were suppose to do that. So yea, I think it's a good idea to let them get away with not linking back. |

| Good plan. Pretty much everyone knows about the thread by now, and it's almost always on the front page of its subforum anyway. :) Plus it'll be a lot easier to check for just the banner.
