So I admit I haven't read enough of this manga to judge but man this feels like the most cookie cutter laziest way to go about a coming-of-age story.

You got the angsty teen and all he wants to do is rock climb.

You got the hot-headed rival dude who's only there to be the hot-headed rival dude.

You got the mentor figure who does everything to help the protagonist he barely knows, doesn't have a life of his own to show, and is just there to be stock boundless optimism.

You've got the old mentor who only exists to have a stock backstory that's conveniently there to warn the angsty teen of his fatal flaw. The man has no other purpose.

Stuff like what happened in this chapter just happens by random coincidence to move the plot along since the mangaka clearly doesn't have enough material.

So right now I'd give this manga a 5/10.
