I like collecting Blu-ray, but I don't usually go for anime Blu-ray titles due to the availability of streaming sources. I'll own anime on blu-ray if I really like it and want to view it on the big screen in HD glory.

Currently, I own Madoka Magica on blu-ray and Basilisk. I have the Platinum DVDs for Evangelion and End of Evangelion, but I read that they'll be releasing the extended cut in blu-ray this summer. So stoked!

You guys can post blu-ray deals here.

As of right now, the Ghost in the Shell blu-ray (re-release version from September 2014) is on sale for only $9.96 on Amazon. The quality is supposed to be superb.

I used to have a decent size collection on VHS, but I gave it away as DVD and Blu-rays became more available. My current collection is pretty small because box sets are expensive, so I only buy titles that I absolutely love, or would enjoy in HD.

I own or plan on owning:
- Akira
- Barakamon
- Haibane Renmei
- JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (2012)
- Kill la Kill
- Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World
- Maria-sama ga Miteru
- Monogatari Series (I know it's disgusting and pretentious, but I like the art and dialog, damn it >_<)
- Mushishi
- Ninja Scroll
- Redline
- Shirobako
- Space Brothers
- Spirited Away
- The Tatami Galaxy

No shame in liking a series even though it's considered disgusting or pretentious. Sometimes we just like things even if we normally don't like that kind of stuff. Like me and Cross Ange. /wut

So I just bought Madoka: Rebellion. $40 for a movie is steep but I love it too much...

I want to own these in HD glory:
Steins;Gate
Black Lagoon
Ga-Rei: Zero
Cross Ange
Rebuild of Evangelion films (once the fourth one is released)
Kill la Kill
Selector Infected WIXOSS
Heroic Age
Expelled from Paradise

Lol, yeah. I'm like "whatever" now. I had such a love/hate relationship with the Monogatari series. It's directed by Akiyuki Shinbou, who was also the chief director of the Madoka Magica series. His style, which has become synonymous with Shaft, and NisiOisiN's crazy ass writing is a match made in Hell Heaven.

I just added up the price of the 9 box sets that have been released so far of the Monogatari Series. The total is around $640. >_< There's no way in hell... I might get Bakemonogatari, but I'll probably stop there.

For you rich people living in the US and Canada, here are the RightStuf links:
- Bakemonogatari
- Nisemonogatari
- Nekomonogatari Black: Tsubasa Family
- Nekomonogatari White: Tsubasa Tiger
- Kabukimonogatari: Mayoi Jiangshi
- Otorimonogatari: Nadeko Medusa
- Onimonogatari: Shinobu Time
- Koimonogatari: Hitagi End
- Hanamonogatari: Suruga Devil

Aniplex of America thinks our wallets are made of Gold, apparently. $200 for all 25 episodes of Kill la Kill? I can get all Game of Throne seasons for that price. -_-

In contrast, Funimation has some neat prices. Heroic Age has 26 episodes and the blu-ray set is only $17.99.

As much as I enjoyed Kill la Kill, I can't see myself spending over $200 on it. And it's going to be awhile before I'll be able to talk myself into spending $150 on Bakemonogatari. If I'm going to spend 100+ on a box set, I'd rather get an anime that I really go crazy for like Mushishi or MariMite.

If you own a Region-Free Blu-ray player, you can get the Australian Bakemonogatari boxset for about $60. Granted, it's not the limited edition, but it has all the episodes in HD glory.

That's a great idea. I hadn't thought about seeing what boxsets were available outside of the US and Japan. $60 is still a bit much, but it would be an easier buy than the "limited edition". I might treat myself and get it.

Arigato.

Thanks for helping me decide on a 3rd item for my Amazon shopping cart. Now I can get free shipping, lol.
