2011 has been hailed by the greater anime community to be one of the better years of anime. I'd like to see what everyone thinks is the best from that year. Here are some groundrules:

1) Anything from Fall 2010 that ended in Winter 2011 will count.
2) For the sake of stuff like Fate/Zero, Chihayafuru, etc. anime that air in Fall 2011 and continue to Winter 2012/ have a second season in 2012 will still count because I feel stuff like that mentioned above and others are worth keeping in the running.
3)Anime that started before Fall 2010 and have a second season in 2011 do NOT count. If you want to count that second season all on it's own, I guess you can, but state that it is the second/third season.
4)No Hunter X Hunter 2011. Only 15 or something of it's 148 episodes were in 2011, and it ends in 2014, so I'm sorry, but my post my rules. I'd also say no Gintama as well.

If there are any rules you think I should add/revise, go ahead and tell me, as they are very impromptu, if you will.

I've only seen like a few of the 2011 shows myself, but I'll give a quick best to worst list of the ones I have seen.

1)Steins;Gate (9)
2)Kimi to Boku (8)
3)Fate/Zero (8)
4)Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica (7)
5)Persona 4: The Animation (6)
6)Deadman Wonderland (6)
7)Ano Hana (6)
8)Kimi ni Todoke Second Season (5)
9)Mirai Nikki (4)

hmm, without HxH, i guess my top 5 looks something like this...

1. Fate/Zero
2. Mawaru Penguindrum
3. SKET Dance
4. Bakuman. 2
5. Kimi to Boku.

but yeah, considering that two of my 10's are from 2011, it was indeed a pretty good year.

If I ignore second seasons, movies/specials, and stuff like hxh that didn't end in 2011,

Nichijou
Idolmaster or Sket dance (can't decide)
Usagi drop
Haganai
Chihayafuru

These were my favorite with the top two being Nichijou and chihayafuru. The other stand at mostly the same level, and any one of those being better than the others depending on my mood.

I won't count shows that started in 2010 and ended in 2011 because I never do and they don't show up on MALGraph so it's a pain to include them anyway. No sequels too and no HxH.

Hyouge Mono
Nichijou
Usagi Drop
Chihayafuru
Fate/Zero
Sket Dance
Idolmaster

Those are my 9/10 ratings for that year. My favorite 8s would probably be Tiger & Bunny, Toriko and Kimi to Boku to make the top 10 complete.
I probably regret this post by now.

2. Hanasaku Iroha (8/10)
3. Steins;Gate (8/10)
4. Fate/zero (8/10)
5. Usagi Drop (8/10)

Also, special mention to the Ikoku Meiro no Croisée special which, as a stand alone episode, I extremely liked.

I only watched 4 anime from 2011 (without hxh) iirc so it would be something like this:

Steins Gate
Rain Town
Madoka Magica
Mirai Nikki

But I have high hopes for Mawaru Pengiundrum, and Kaiji S2, they will probably top the list once I watch them

2011 is actually one of my worst years for anime, starting from 1997 till 2017 every year has at least one 9 or 10, usually two or three, but 2011 doesn't have a single one, except if you'd start counting OVAs/specials.

Shiki Specials (9)
Highschool of the Dead Drifters of the Dead (9)
Fate Zero (8)
Steins;Gate (8)
Nichijou (7)
No.6 (7)
