Plenty of loons in this series - but who's the alpha loon?

Now, I guess Ryō and Fū would tend to be perceived as the frontrunners, but for my money Kamiya's is a subtler, more profound derangement. I wish there was an option to make these polls like Cy Young voting, so you would get to rank your top three.

I didn't include every character, 'cause there's a lot. So if it's your genuine conviction that the President or Sora's brother is a latent sociopath and that the series is going to end with him massacring everyone... I'm sorry, but we can't accommodate you.

I'd say Kuma. He's a manly ma--- cat, a great character and a charismatic presence, but underneath that small, squashed-together face of his I can see madness working, working, ticking, ticking, spinning.

Kasugano-sensei is also pretty high. Her love of chickens somehow reminds me of Herzog and his fear of chickens. They might be complements to eachother.

The Suzukaze combo is the most sane one there is. They have reached a higher state of mind, where they can communicate without words. They work along the great, to us mortals inscrutable Laws of Comedy, and they do the bidding of their god Humour with great lucidity.

Kuga, for sure. She may be quiet, but she's pretty demented especially in the manga.
Agreed about Kamiya too. also maybe Hazuki for her OCD tendencies.

My choice is Hazuki. Someday, someone will give her some bad financial advice, and, after losing all her life savings, she goes on a rampage.

Although N.B. Kobako's assertion that Kuga is in fact a normal person who just acts insane (Sketchbook Note #5, vol. 5, p. 20).

yeah that was an interesting note, but I thought of it this way: at first she begins doing those weird things just for the sake of doing them, but soon they grow to be her habits and eventually becomes her personality itself. Besides, her dark, if not somewhat twisted, sense of humor must derive from a bizarre aspect of her personality, and the decision to knowingly act those out surely qualifies something of a "insanity".

Aside from that, just straight up, I think only Hazuki can be given the true title as insane due to her OCD tendencies and the resulting extreme thriftiness. and maybe Daiichi for his anger management problems
I think most of the other characters (esp. the suzukaze) fit into Kuga's category.

Quite clearly, these are not the actions of a normal girl. I wonder what Kobako was up to with that little comment. Since when do you psychoanalyze your characters, tissue box?
