| If you ever wondered (and laughed) about Otori singing "flying fire bird" in his song... I don't know if anyone else here has noticed but I find this so amusing that I have to share. Seems that every song links back to their characters' names. I'm slow to notice, but it just SUDDENLY hit me about all the songs after I looked over their lyrics. Nayuki Tooru (那雪透) → First chorus line starts with 透き通る (sukitooru) Tengenji Kakeru (天花寺翔) → Song title and also in lyrics: Tenka no Hana (天下の花) Hoshitani Yuuta → Song title and also in lyrics: Hoshi no Stride Otori Itsuki (鳳樹) → The kanji for "Otori" here means phoenix. Hence "flying fire bird" and the references to fire and flying all over the lyrics. Toraishi Izumi (虎石和泉) → The lyrics go "TRY! TRY! TRY!"... guess what's the katakana reading for "try"? It's torai (トライ). I'm pretty sure all of this is intentional. I haven't found the link for Kuga and Tsukigami's songs, so maybe someone here has a better idea. Can you catch more references? ^^;; |

| Oh, this is cool! I didn't notice any of this upon first glance! I guess we'll have to keep watching and see what names they come up for the new songs as they come out each week! |

| Gonna drag up this thread because I just discovered something more worthy of note from the character names. It seems that the five main characters aka Team Otori all have the names of the current five groups 花 Hana, 月 Tsuki, 雪 Yuki, 星 Hoshi, and 宙 Sora in the famed Takarazuka Revue in Japan in their surnames! (The "sora" character used in the Takarazuka group is rare usage so Kuga's "sora" character is the more common one.) No wonder some of them have really strange surnames. At first I thought the common theme in their names was that they all had elements of nature/earth. It really fits nicely for them to have names linked to a musical theatre troupe and it's like a hint for their future that they will eventually become like Kaou-kai and have their own five teams just like there are five Takarazuka groups. What I even find interesting is that just like how Starmyu had five Star teams and the other normal teams, Takarazuka Revue also has members who do not belong to the five teams. The original writer for the story must have taken some inspiration from there. |
