Okay, I think I'll start first just to break the ice. :P My name is Alexandra, a half Greek and half Russian "otaku." I am currently residing in Greece where I just got my Bachelor's Degree in International Hospitality Management. I do not exactly remember what was my first movie (or if it was an animated one or not), but what I do know is that I came to like watching movies very much. ^_^ Though I do tend to watch various genres (except horrors), my favorite ones are probably Action, History, Crime and Drama. As every cinephile, I have several favorite films which I choose based on my personal enjoyment, the emotional complexity of the characters and of course on how well the story/scenario was written. In addition, I'm also a big fan of documentaries. Non-fiction generally interests me more than fiction. That's all folks! Nice to meet you! :D

Hello, everyone! My name is Nikola and I come from Macedonia(please don't start a war). Currently studying while reading manga and watching movies in my free time. I don't remember what was my first movie, too! I feel like I can watch any type of movies, but my favorites are still the ones that include a sport or something that I am familiar with!

Everything you need to know about me is written on my profile page :] So I'll concentrate on the things that aren't mentioned there. My first movie: It probably wasn't my first movie but it's the first movie I remember watching - it's Steven Spielberg's "Duel" from 1971. Favourite genres: Thriller, Crime. My shortlist of the best movies I've seen (these are the only titles I can actually rank): #9 - "Zodiac" #8 - "Once Upon a Time in America" #7 - "The Departed" #6 - "L.A. Confidential" #5 - "The Thin Red Line" #4 - "How to Train Your Dragon" (yes - seriously) #3 - "The Matrix" #2 - "Inception" #1 - "Fight Club" Favourite people working in the movie industry: David Fincher, Kevin Spacey, Edward G. Robinson.

My profile has most of the relevant personal info, but not anything related to movies, sadly. *shameless plug* I don't know too many people around here, but some may know who I am through reviews- which is a hobby of mine, along with being a film nerd and critic. But hey, everyone's a critic at the Cinema Club. I have a favorite feature film list here, from Letterboxd. I also have an IMDb account with a near complete record of my films... but spent too many years to transfer all my scores and titles over. Fun Factoids: World's #1 Biggest Star Wars nerd. I absolutely, positively despise superhero movies. Come at me. :)
How to fix the review section, detailed here The average reader (HS level) reads at about 200 WPM. So a 500-800 word review should take 3-5 minutes to read. That's an acceptable length for something you're interested in spending 25 minutes to 4.5 hours of your life watching. Oh, and ANN requires any and all reviews to be 800-1200 words, no matter the length of the show.

Hi! I'm Calum, I live in the UK and I'm currently working as a recording engineer, whilst studying an MSc. I love films, mainly cheesy 80's action, sci-fi and more surrealist stuff. Favourite directors would be David Lynch, Jodorowsky, Von Trier, Tarkovsky, Ridley Scott, Aronofsky, Hitchcock and most of all John Carpenter. It would be very hard for me to pick a favourite film, so I'm not going to try haha. Looking forward to some interesting discussions!

I'm 1017 and I'm named after 1017 Bricksquad Records. I'm not going to tell too much about myself as a person but I'm still in my teens and I like music and movies. when it comes to music I really like everything but hiphop will always be my favorite genre. for movies I used to grow up with Jackie Chan action movies which later changed to Italian-American gangster movies then to hoodfilms but lately I've been having a thing for critically acclaimed stuff. I like movies that have good directing, dialogue, story, scenery and characters. I'm a big fan of movies made in the 70s and New York, especially those 2 combined. I'm a fanboy of Martin Scorcese's old work with DeNiro mainly because of the scenery and setting in NY. I've been growing fond of French cinema the past few months though with La Haine being my favorite. I have letterboxd and all that I can share it with you if interested, if you want to know anything else about me just ask. have a good one.

My name is Levi, 21 year old student/nurse who can't live without music, videogames and cinema. During my free time you'll mostly find me either doing either of those three. Like 1017, I thoroughly enjoy Hip Hop, my favorite artists/producers have to be Black Milk, Nujabes, RE:plus, Guilty Simpson and Nottz. But I also enjoy alternative rock such as Radiohead and Daft Punk. As a person I'm pretty down to earth, funny, competetive over trivial shit you don't care two shits about. I have a knack for helping others with their problems, hence why I am a nurse. However I am studying simultaniously to become a physiotherapist in the near future, I'm a second year student at the moment. When it comes to movies I mostly enjoy light hearted slice of life movies and dramas. I enjoy a well written story without the need of explosions and blood.... but that doesn't mean I enjoy thrillers and psychological thrillers. I also enjoy martial arts (mostly Chinese) movies, which have little to no plot. Just refer to this I'm a friendly guy who will likely fancy you for actually bothering to read this all. Here a kiss on your hand. Only if you're a girl

Hi there, I'm new to the club. I live in the United States. I own a little over 500 movies, so this seems like the perfect club to join. I'll pretty much watch most genres, except I'm not really a big fan of horror movies. To name a few of my favorite movies: Big Fish, Stranger Than Fiction, Edward Scissorhands, Adaptation, and Moulin Rouge. I love going to the movie theater and seeing movies. I guess a few other interests to name besides movies: reading, drawing, video games, playing the guitar, photography, and listening to music. Anyway, thank you for the invite, AADMC! I'm looking forward to being a part of this club.

Hello everyone. I'm an 22-year-old Indonesian studying accounting and Business at a local college. I'm pretty close to graduating now since i'm currently doing my thesis which is why you probably won't see me much in the club for the next few months. I'm a proud cinephile and movies have been an obsession of mine for i dunno how long and they will continue to be so i think. In general i'm a fan of all staples of genres, i can never single out one from the other. my favourite filmmakers are Ingmar Bergman and Martin Scorsese because of their distinctive narrative styles and their sheer ability of creating singular scenes i'd play over and over. But strangely, my favourite movie isn't from either of them. Here's basically my top 10 all-time favourite list : 2001 : A Space Odyssey Paris, Texas Autumn Sonata High and Low The Secret in Their Eyes (The original argentinian one of course!) There Will Be Blood Chungking Express La Haine Le Samourai Only Yesterday

Hi, I'm Thedude3445. I am actually a much bigger movie fan than I am an anime fan, though I never have been able to keep a complete/frequently-updated list of movie ratings or anything anywhere comparable to MAL. I love movies of all shapes and sizes, all directors and genres, as long as they're good. I love intense realistic dramas (such as Before Sunrise), over-the-top action movies (like 2010's A-Team for example), gritty sci-fi (including Alien), psychological thrillers (AKA David Fincher's filmography), and pretty much everything else, though I have never seen a Found Footage Horror film or 2000s-era Romcom that I have ever enjoyed, at least FOR NOW. Some of my favorite directors/writers include Jon Favreau, Quentin Tarantino, Charlie Kaufman, Max Landis, George Lucas, and Christopher Nolan. My Top 10 Movies list changes often and sometimes on complete whims, because I really love a whole bunch of movies. As of right now, my Top 10 list, as copypasted from my "Top 10s" spreadsheet, is: 1 Empire Strikes Back 1980 Irvin Kershner 2 Revenge of the Sith 2005 George Lucas 3 Star Wars 1977 George Lucas 4 Inception 2010 Christopher Nolan 5 Madoka Magica: The Rebellion 2013 Akiyuki Shinbo 6 Mad Max: Fury Road 2015 George Miller 7 Interstellar 2014 Christopher Nolan 8 Return of the Jedi 1983 Richard Marquand 9 Memento 2000 Christopher Nolan 10 Con Air 1997 Simon West Make of that what you will. EDIT: I totally have a Letterboxd account now. Follow me if you dare. http://letterboxd.com/Thedude3445/

I'm will. Seen plenty of movies. To put a number on how many.. my dads blockbuster receipt had the amount of free movies He and I have gotten. (every 2 payed for equaled an extra free)... At about 2500 since 1999 to about 2010. So yeah, do the math and subtract about 1/3rd of that and that's what I've seen pretty much. (I have to ask my dad if he still has that receipt). Might actually post a picture of it if it can be found. Anyway, my profile should be relevant if you wish to know more about me ^^.

My love for movies has never died, and has actually increased over the past few years because now I am old enough to run to every cinema whenever I want to watch whatever I want. Also, insanely HUGE The Lord of The Rings fan (movies and everything else). Seriously. Gandalf is my literary/screen idol and hero. I thank Peter Jackson every day. |

Hi. I've been following these things for a very long time and I usually don't join clubs, but this place looks fantastic, so if you'll excuse me, I'll give it a try. I'm especially fond of Ingmar Bergman's works. Wild Strawberries and Persona are very special for me. Federico Fellini is another director that I'm fond of, along with Masaki Kobayashi and Orson Welles. I usually watch older movies. Maybe it's because my age, or generally my like for nostalgic things, but either way I'm open to any recommendations or any advices, so please feel free to do things as you please. Lastly, my Letterboxd account can be found here, if you're interested in. Take care.

Hi. I'm an avid viewer of movies. Currently, I'm part of another film forum called "Filmspotting", so I have the opportunity to watch a lot of movies with them these past few months, which is why I felt like it's a good chance for me to come to this club and share my reviews. My favorite movies are loud, explosive, and hyperbolic. I don't mind analyzing the 'deeper' films, but I still find those over-the-top movies to be most enjoyable. :P That being said, I also like movies with a lot of heart, emotions, and compelling characters; my top two movies are Toy Story 2 and 3. Till then, I'll see you round the club. ;)

I play violin like Miyazono Kaori from Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso. I got reunited to anime in May 2015 so I'm kind of new to anime. My favorite anime genres are action, drama, fantasy, school, shounen, and supernatural. When it comes to movies, I'm very random at choosing them, though I mostly watch anime and cartoons movies. I hope we'll be friends, 'kay? P.S. I sometimes stalk people's profile's for no good reason. |

Hey there! I was pleased to stumble upon this group of like-minded movie lovers. I feel like some anime fans get so lost in anime that they forget about all the great live action stuff that exists (and therefore, forget about the flaws common to anime), which ultimately results in some loli-loving, body pillow-kissing weeb. However, I fell in love with movies before I tried anime, so that won't be happening to me, ha ha! Some of my all time favorites are (anime films I'll exclude): The Matrix Psycho Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Spider-Man The Nightmare Before Christmas The Godfather The Thing 12 Angry Men Toy Story Pulp Fiction My favorite director is Quentin Tarantino. My favorite movies of 2016 were: 1. Deadpool 2. The Lobster 3. La La Land 4. Kubo and the Two Strings 5. The Neon Demon I'll stop the lists there, but you get the picture.

Hi. My name is Kaz. I'm from the North East of Scotland. I love most genre and film era and Anime of course. And i have a passion for B-Movies. I suppose if i had to pick some of my favourite genre they would be comedy horror like Braindead, The Evil Dead Trio, What We Do In The Shadows, Housebound, Juan of the Dead, Lobos de Arga (Game of Werewolves), Zombibi (Kill Zombie!) the list goes on and on. Also Ealing Comedies such as Kind Hearts and Coronets, Whisky Galore (one of my faves, probably because i'm Scottish and there are some damn fine actors in the movie). Hammer/Hammer Horrors - Dracula, The Nanny, Quatermass and the Pit etc. Amicus movies - The Vault of Horror Dr. Terror's House of Horrors, Asylum, The Psychopath etc. I am a bit of a Vincent Price fan. House on Haunted Hill, The Tingler, Pit and the Pendulum, Tales of Terror, The Abominable Dr. Phibes and so on. Also sci-fi, psychological, thriller, action, comedy and others. I'm not really a Rom-Com kind of girl, i find them to slow, unrealistic and boring. Now that i have probably bored everyone and scared them off i can also say....I am also a Trekkie and a fan of Bruce Campbell, even his B-Movies. Nice to be here and meet you all. :)

Hello, my name is Daniel. I am from Northern Greece and I am very fond of making movie references. As of now, some of my favorite TV-series are Orphan Black and Bates Motel. As for movies, my three personal favorites are Whiplash, Perfect Blue and most Scorcese films (he is my favorite director btw). One movie that I did not like and everyone else loved was Birdman or (The pretentious parenthesis subtitle) because I found it unbearably boring and pretentious from the beginning. While one movie that I found to be good but less good than everyone else was surprisingly Pulp Fiction. As for Oldies, my favorite old movie is Monkey Business. As for the most pretentious films I have seen, Hail Caesar! and Knowing (2009) take the top spot. My favorite Romance movie is Night in Notting Hill because it actually reshapes the vanilla romance formula to something meaningful although being a victim of it towards the end. That is all. I hope I get to know you all better.

Hiya, my name is Logan and I am a Texan. I love movies (and have actually gone to school to learn how to make them). As far as favorites go I have a pretty wide range of tastes, but generally the kind of stuff I like are old, odd, and obscure films. Japanese New Wave films would probably be my favorite sub-genre. As far as specifics, there are too many to mention, but one that has been floating in my head for a while is The Demon (1978) IMDB page.
