Annoying MC?

Does anyone else feel like Yuu is one of the more annoying MCs? A lot of what he does is really reckless and wouldn't fly well if he weren't the protagonist in a shōnen anime, and somehow girls like Shinoa or Mitsuba need to be rescued by him, even though they've been doing the vampire extermination for a lot longer and are far more experienced. They're still competent, it just seems that everyone needs to be saved by him and he will never make any compromises, which seems like a really poor judgment choice.
