Mm, that's life I guess. Sometimes, shit happens and it isn't fair. Yuka seems like a decent girl (with some fighting skills too) so maybe there's still hope for Tatsuhiko.

I must say I noticed something earlier but it only really clicked this chapter for me. The action in this comes with nearly no wind up sometimes and gives this real sense of motion. To go from static standing to the instant Hide's punch landed on Yuka is an example. The first chapter had the static images leading to the close up punch when the guy made fun of Tatsuhiko's hair too. It's shocking and powerful when you go from stills to the impact without lead up, which isn't all the time but I see it used here more than I normally do anywhere else and I like that!

Also, I love that Shiratori is really just a punk. He can fight and he's shown that he can land a good punch or stop someone swinging, but he's no superhero. His skill is his dumbass ferocity, his ability to engage into an unwinnable battle purely because he feels like punching someone he doesn't like in the face. It's like he doesn't know what fear is, well outside of the few times when Mako scares him anyways. It's the thing Mako liked about him. After that chapter 1 punch he got his ass beat by a group ganging up on him and yet again he did here, he didn't even get to do anything, he was held back and beaten to a pulp. It feels like our characters are genuine people and his shounen-esque refusal to back down isn't something that's overtly powerful. It in fact gets him in more trouble than he'd otherwise get in. It also leads to some satisfying moments, the punch he got in before being beat up in chapter 1, or when he caught Shinji's arm and gave him that fierce gaze stand out immensely more due to the less than overpowered nature of Shiratori. It allows those times to have some weight and to shine.

Yet, it's still so awesome. It's the kind of thing I love in characters. To never back down and act true to how they feel regardless of the consequences. And we saw here, his values say to protect women(plus he has special feelings for this one) and so do his emotions, he almost started a fight with some yakuza, yet when he's not strong enough to do the near impossible he hates himself for it. Luckily however, he did memorize the guys face, as even when being beat he was watching Hide beat Yuka. Plus it foreshadowed this being the start of a 'dispute' to come, so we can bet this isn't the end of everything... For better or for worse. I wonder if Mako and the higher ups will strike down on this or if it will be a more personal revengeance.

To be less serious, I found moments like when Shiratori approached Yuka like a stalker trying to figure out how he should introduce himself so overtly she saw him a mile away hilarious. Plus that adorable line about "it must be hard being cute" got to me too. He's such a dweeb, he appears to have gotten better at his work and at dealing with women but this one got his heart and he cannot avoid showing it sometimes. I think Yuka liked the nice side of him. She's an interesting character. Immediately being playful and giving him a nickname, gaining a liking to him and all. Maybe she saw that he was one of the few dudes who isn't so grimy in the nightlife industry. Either way, she showed she was pretty selfless yelling for them not to beat Shiratori when meanwhile she herself was being beat and she showed a introspective and sad look when called kind.
