THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
I created this because there was none. Seems like a lost and forgotten series :(
Anyway, my thoughts on the 3rd episode in this riveting series.

"We come from the 21st century", never thought they will reveal it. American torpedoes are incoming!
What decision will the Mirai captain Umezu take? I am thinking they'll try to evade and retreat.

I loved it when the rescued, navy soldier, Kusake - patriotically said he was glad Japan exists in the 21st century. It show in-depth love for his country and showcase the spirit of all soldiers.
I don't know why people write that they are approachable persons,
if you were you wouldn't be on MAL.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Extended families or lovers on MAL are a farce.

Pretty sad, considering the amount of potential it has. Reminded me a bit of Hyouge Mono when it went off the radar. Seems to me that many historical anime about Japan are not dedicated to the audiences outside of Japan.

It was surprisingly interesting how it derived at this point without feeling forced whereby the main character confronted said reality, despite the consequences it had. It mean he trusts Kusake, not just seeing him as a mere Japanese soldier whom he saved. There is an idealistic views of both of the men, judging from Kusake asking a lot of question about the future of Japan, seemingly the type of ambitious man who love his country so much, to the point he will forge the future of it as well.

I agree with your points. Just that curiosity and his calm demeanor reflected on his personality a lot, not just a man casually asking for the sake of it. He even looked at the ship in admiration, despite not aware of it's existence at first. It bewildered him!
haha, I am following all your quote tags. Personally, I've bookmarked Hyougo mono but the amount of time I used to watch anime has reduced drastically now but it's still under my radar to watch someday. Sadly, there's no scanlation of the manga and I really wanted to read it.

Lieutenant Admiral Takumi, a person who should've died in the sea as history once made it to be. However with him on board, and the American submarine enclosing on the now-vulnerable ship. They can no longer escape the war.

Kusaka's demeanor strikes me as a bit cartoonish so I'm not fond of the character, but I suppose a stylized character efficiently introduces the ideas the author is going for.

American submarine torpedoes were so unreliable at this point in the war I wonder if the sub's attack will fail for that reason. If the show got the phase of the moon on June 4, 1942 right it'll probably get a detail like that right and it would solve the dilemma.

If their engines weren’t shut down they could just run away very easily given how fast they are compared to 1940s ships and submarines in particular are slow.
