Seiyuu and singer Tomo Sakurai has announced, via her official blog, that she will retire from her voice acting career.

Sakurai debuted as a seiyuu and an anisong singer with her first role as Tomo Sakurai from Cream Lemon: Lemon Angel in 1987, in addition to singing the insert songs for the series. She has also sang the third ending theme for Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai, "Datta Ichido no Kiseki."

Throughout her seiyuu career, she has also voiced Mylene Flare Jenius from Macross 7, Meimi Haneoka from Kaitou Saint Tail, Misao Makimachi from Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan, Azusa Miura from iDOLMSTER Xenoglossia, and more.

:(

Well, I mean I feel bad about that since she voiced some of the characters of my favorites (Hinowa, Cynthia, Azusa), but oh well. I can only say this to her:

Thank you very much for the roles >-< have a nice rest after the your voice acting career >w< and well, ya know. Just have a good time after being around in the industry.

It's beginning? Noooooooo!!!!!!

We just don't have enough talent to replace the legendary talent that are leaving the industry right now and the industry is becoming saturated too to make things worse.

Didn't know her first role was named after her.

Anyway, love Mylene, Misao, and Hinowa.

Happy retirement, and I hope she at least appears from time to time as Hinowa in Gintama.

Also, really pretty.

Does this mean her role as Hinowa in Aizome Kaori-hen her final role?

All the best to her for whatever reason to put down the mic.

Well, to be perfectly honest, she wasn't really active for years anyway, having maybe two or three roles per year, which is nothing.

Lol what?Go check the seiyuu cast of Sansha Sanyou, each and every one of them are new amazing VAs...Dont be overdramatic, there will always be someone good enough to replace them unless its one of the best ones like sawashiro miyuki, nakata jouji,etc...

It has nothing to do with marriage though. She is retiring because, according to her, she's having trouble voicing characters these days.

She'll be 45 years old in a week. How many 45 year old female Japanese seiyuu do you see getting regular roles in anime???? Not many, just a few really senior members of the Endless 17 club like Kikuko Inoue. Tomo has had a long career for what she does.

Anybody knows what was her last Seiyuu role in an Anime? I don't know if I can recognize her voice now.

If you won't count Gitama's Hinowa, she played minor role in one episode of Ushio to Tora and Mumei's mother in Koutetsujo no Kabaneri.
And she voiced Alicia in Granblue Fantasy game.

Not sure if she will be voicing anime characters anymore, since she said she had problems, but it's good that her retirement wasn't permanent, or lasted as Sakura Tange's.
