Monogatari Series: Final Season has 4 more arcs. These are: Mayoi Hell, Hitagi Rendezvous, Ougi Dark and Koyomi Reverse. How do people think they will be adapted?

In my opinion, they'll probably give all of the remaining arcs a single cour (12/13 episodes). They'll probably call it "Zokuowarimonogatari" but it would contain the 3 Owarimonogatari Gekan arcs. Given the amount of pages for these 2 novels, I think one cour should be enough. Like:

Ep 1: Mayoi Hell
Ep 2: Mayoi Hell
Ep 3: Mayoi Hell
Ep 4: Hitagi Rendezvous
Ep 5: Ougi Dark
Ep 6: Ougi Dark
Ep 7: Ougi Dark
Ep 8: Koyomi Reverse
Ep 9: Koyomi Reverse
Ep 10: Koyomi Reverse
Ep 11: Koyomi Reverse
Ep 12: Koyomi Reverse

I would also say that they should air episode 1 as an hour special, with the last 2 episodes of Koyomimonogatari taking the first half hour. This is because those last 2 episodes are important context for Mayoi Hell and some people won't have seen Koyomimonogatari.

Anyone think a different order would be best, or have anything to add?

do we know that Koyomi Reverse would be grouped with the other arcs? I know they're adapting everything but I thought only the Owari vol. 3 arcs were "confirmed". could it be another standalone?

I was just thinking that if they do keep them separate, you'd have to get an awkward 7 episode anime (or something like that) to adapt those first 3 arcs on their own which they've never done before. It hasn't been confirmed but it would make more sense to me if they put them together.

I'm pretty sure that the next adaptation will only be owari vol 3, probably as an ona, since the greenlight announcement used only the Japanese name of the third book, but that's just speculation. I agree that if they do both of the last two books in final season on tv that the season should be called Zokuowarimonogatari, it only makes sense that way, but i also think that koyomireverse would be a pretty anticlimactic ending of a season, it's just a side story in the vein of the off season books. I'm excited regardless though, it's crazy to think that they're adapting book 17/18!

Ah, see I haven't read the novels and only assumed that Koyomi Reverse would be this huge, dramatic arc that would serve as a fitting end point. If it would be anticlimatic and Ougi Dark would instead be the dramatic peak, then I don't know, maybe they should be separated. Interesting. Since Koyomi Reverse is part of the final season and not the off season I assumed it would be best linked to that. Honestly, I would be so happy if they adapt the off season arcs too! Also didn't know it had been properly announced, so that's cool. I'd totally be fine with having owari vol 3 and then zoku at a later date. I'd prefer a TV anime though, at least not an app-exclusive like what they did with Koyomimonogatari.

Yes, exactly my thinking as to why ONAs are a better choice for the remainder of Final Season. Owari 3 is the true end to the overarching plot of the series, whereas Zoku is an epilogue which, in true NisioisiN fashion, doesn't provide any true closure. They could and may still do tv, I just imagine the climax being in the middle of the show and it seems odd to me. And waiting week by week... ugh.

I wouldn't worry about them doing the app thing again, those were unique circumstances because of Koyomimonogatari's weird-to-adapt structure. I actually like getting all the episodes at once with the ONA arcs. it's like when you buy the book, you get the whole story instead of a few chapters a week.

And yes, after the last episode of Koyomimonogatari was released, the app sent a push notification saying Owari 3 was greenlit, I saw a screencap of it somewhere. And actually, I saw someone say in a forum post somewhere that someone at SHAFT said they were already working on Off Season, but that's just hearsay.

Edit: Here it is, Owarimonogatari Volume 3 is written as 終物語(下)

Wow, it's good to see that proof :) and if shaft do make the off season then that would just be incredible. Here's hoping for Owari 3 this year!

And I would be happy if Zoku is in the same format as Hana and Tsuki, if the arc isn't too long (if 5 eps is enough) then it would work very nicely. And if Ougi Dark is a good end then I would hope that would get more than 3 eps I suppose.

Still not sure how Owari 3 will be done. Like an 8 episode TV would be enough, though that is rare. It's usually 11-13. So maybe if it has to go together it would be like this...

1. Mayoi Hell
2. Mayoi Hell
3. Mayoi Hell
4. Hitagi Rendezvous
5. Koyomi Reverse
6. Koyomi Reverse
7. Koyomi Reverse
8. Koyomi Reverse
9. Koyomi Reverse
10. Ougi Dark
11. Ougi Dark
12. Ougi Dark

...Though maybe Ougi Dark can't be separated from the first 2. This would probably have problems. Guess we'll just have to wait and see!
