Shiho Hajime’s Days
Prologue:

“You are a special being,” that god-like voice told me.
Ever since I was little, I always felt different around my surroundings. Directly from my parents’ words, I am extremely talented getting to the point that everyone creeps out.
That’s right. From the first second I was born, I could already walk. On the second day, I could already speak.
Very creepy right?
However, I could not help it. That’s just how I was.
Above all those strange occurrences upon me, there’s only one thing that made me interested.
That god-like voice which I could speak with.
It was a voice of a man echoing around my ears.
That strange voice told me, “You are the ■■ of ■■.”
His message… left me in a daze.
I just could not believe that I’d be the ■■ of ■■. Do I really deserve to have that ■■...? That ■■…?
Ah, with his words, somehow I had figured out who he really was. The most proper description of him must be ■■.

Despite the fact that I possessed all the talents, I’d prefer not to stand out. When I was a kid, I would always obey my parents. As a result, I was entitled as a prodigy. I’ve mastered playing every musical instruments when I was on first grade. I’ve also mastered writing, painting, singing, EVERYTHING; for only a very short period of time. A minute or two to be exact.
Because of that, I always win every competition. Expertssaid that I have Savant Syndrome in a very different level, but I thought that’s not really the case. For I knew to myself why I am like this, I am a special being, which meant I’m not entirely human.
Somehow, I could say that the girl named ‘Shiho Hajime’ was one of a kind.
Behind all of my achievements, I couldn’t understand why it doesn’t satisfy me. Perhaps this world wasn’t really constructed for ‘Shiho Hajime’.
So I’ve decided; From this day on, I would live a normal life from a normal school. I would live up all of my remaining time in a normal way.
Right, being normal would be the best option to take. After all, for me to easily achieve something bored me to death already. I would take a life with no proper goal, a life filled with so many options, and a life that I would enjoy.
From that decision, I’ve talked to my parents about quitting my upcoming talent competitions. Of course, that would notgo easy, but in the end of the day, they let me free. I said to them that I felt bad for others if I took all the credit to myself; I told them that the people whom lackedtalent were working harder than me that’s why they deserved to be more of a winner.
“It’s time for Shiho Hajime to step down the stage and give chance to others.” Those were actually the words that convinced them. “I’ve already satisfied my life, and it would be better for me to make a change,” they thought.

Therefore, here I am.
Today was the start of classes. I am now a second year student of Shikoku All Girls High School. I actually came from Tokyo, and just arrived here to get rid of popularity. The new sightings amazed me, especially the Seto Inland Sea and the Seto Grand Bridge.
The sakura trees came to blossom once again.
Would I blossom like a flower as well? I hope that I would not stand out. I must restrain my talents in order to gain the life that I wanted.Nevertheless, who knows?
From now on, Shiho Hajime would be known as a normal girl living a normal life in a normal way. She would join a club that doesn’t highlight ones talent or skills, and would carefully choose the persons that she would consider as a friend.
I am a transfer student of this school and my class was gonna be 2-A.
I wondered what would happen on this new chapter of my life.
I’m just hoping that it would not be the same as before.
Walking through the corridor, a girl suddenly caught my attention. Here, we could easily tell which year the students were because of theribbon on their uniform. First years were green, second years were red, while third years were blue.
Hmm, that girl wears a blue ribbon, which meant she’s a senior.
“We are the Helping Hands Club! If you’re troubled just talk to us!” said that girl in a very cheerful manner.
Based from my observation, she’s the first person who was already representing her club. Perhaps she’d anticipated this day more than anyone.
Finally, I’m here. With my head cast up, I looked at the name of that room.
“Class 2-A; Okay… this is gonna be a fresh start.”
As I entered, I was astonished by watching a unique and special classmate. Of course, anyone may appreciate her hard work. That girl, – with a shoulder length hair and charming smile – was wheelchair-bound. However, she wassimilar to the other students, she’s cheerful, and living a happy life.
I casually took my seat near the window. Then I looked at the wide-open bright blue sky. Today was a summer-like-day of spring.
I wondered what would happen from now on. Who knows?
I couldn’t comprehend, but I often glances at that wheelchair-bound student. Perhaps I’m thinking too much about our differences. With no exaggeration, I am a person who could do almost everything; while on her case, her actions were entirely limited.Somehow, I could tell that we’re also having a different satisfaction in life. I knew that she’s living a happier life compared to me.
With my consistent glance, she also looked at me.
That made me embarrassed as I looked away; however, she smiled; came closer to me, and said, “You’re the transfer student right? Let’s be friends from now on okay?~”
“… I-I… well yeah, let’s be friends.” I’m flustered for a sudden.
She smiled again.

The class was over as I tidied up my things, and soon I realized that the only student left inside wasthat girl on wheelchair and I.
As I remembered during the student’s introductions, her name was ‘Terui Hinata’.
“B-before you go home, c-can you help me a little?~” said that girl.
“Okay.”
I wassurprised; I never expected that she’d approach me.
“I was actually headed to the clubroom, but my club members aren’t here yet. They’re basicallyhelping me on going there.~”
“No problem, I just need to watch over you until you safely enter your clubroom right?”
She nodded in response.
Dragging her wheelchair throughout the hallway, I asked, “So, what club do you belong?”
“I’m from the Helping Hands Club.~”
The club of the upperclassman I’ve seen earlier.
“Heh… I think that would be a nice club.”
She looked at me saying, “You haven’t been on any club right? Why don’t you join us? I assure you it’ll be fun.~”
“Ahh… some time perhaps. I’ll think about it then.”
I really could not understand her cheerfulness after hearing my reply.
※※※※※
And we were here.
She knocked the door and said at the same time, “Hinata Terui is here.~”
Someone opened up the door from the inside.
“Oh, you’re here.” Just as I thought, it was the upperclassman from before.
She looked at me in admiration… oh no, I know where this was going through.
“Hina-chan, a new recruit already?” Her eyes sparkled.
“The ‘Operation Ask for Help’ was successful. She took the bait.~” Terui-san suddenly declared with an evil smile as if I was her prey.
“Huh…” but the upperclassman couldn’t understand her as she showed a stupid reaction.
“Anyway, good job Hina-chan.”
With my hand on the upperclassman’s grasp, she dragged me inside the clubroom.
So Terui-san was just acting gentle for all the time.
With spread-opened arms, both of them said in unison,
“Welcome to the Helping Hands Club!”
I was dumbfounded, and speechless.
“Haro haro! I am the club president; my name is Izumi Shindou. The Helping Hands club’s main goal is to help other people. Just as our slogan say, ‘if you’re troubled, talk to us!’”
Ah, what a lame saying.
But…
This club was…
…different.
Most importantly, helping other people was what captured my attention. This sounds fun in a different way. As I see, giving a hand doesn’t really need such extraordinary talents and skills.
‘Helping Hands Club’, that name sounds great.
“Please fill up our club membership form.” Shindou-senpai handed me the paper while bowing her head.
“Wait, wait… isn’t this too sudden?” I stepped back.
“Ah, I forgot to ask, who are you new member?”
I’m included as a member already?
“I’m Shiho Hajime.”
“Shiho Hajime-san huh,” she placed her hand to her chin, “Nice to meet you. So! Fill it up please…” She says so with sparkling eyes.
“Izumi-dono, seems like they’re here as well.~”
“-dono..?” I wondered upon hearing that weird honorific.
“I’m the General here.” Shindo-senpai added with a triumphant pose, and then she looked at the entrance door as someone knocked.
Those might be the other club members.
“So, have they recruited new members as well?”
Which meant all of them wasdoing the same schemes for this day?
Terui-san looked at me and smiled, and then I returned the favor by smiling back.
“You may enter!” Shindou-senpai said with a cheerful voice.
The door opened, startling me because I never expected that they werefour of them.
“Hello everyone! I’ve already picked a new member today.”A longhaired girl in glasses said.
Seems like all the members were cheerful.
“Haro Haro!” Shindou-senpai raised her hand slightly, welcoming her. “New member huh, so she’s a first year.”
A little girl behind the girl with glasses wasquite shy.
“Ah, she’s your little sister!~” Terui-san said with snapped opened eyes.
“Hai Hai, she’s really cute right?” another member – a second year with a tied hair to the side – said.
“Ah, she’s cute.~” Terui-san answered with sparkling eyes.
“Observation. Based from what I see, we’ve recruited at least two members on the first day.” Another member – a first year with an emotionless face – said.
“Ha ha! You’re also a new member by the way!” Shindou-senpai reacted. “This means there are three instant new members!”
“Error. I’m already a registered member of the club before I enter high school, so me as a new member doesn’t count.”
Right, she’s a first year.
“So, only one left huh…” Shindou-senpai said while holding her hips by both hands.
“Rie-chan huh, she’s late again.” The girl in glasses said.
“But Rie is here?” I heard a voice of a girl from behind.
“YOU’RE HERE ALREADY!” everyone shouted in surprise.
“Rie is here longer than anyone, right Hajime-san?”
Ah, she knew me, which meant she was here all the time.
“Hajime-san?” the girl in glasses wondered.
“Ah, so let’s begin the introductions to our new members then.” Shindou-senpai started. “First, Ai-chan.”
The girl in glasses came closer to me. “Hello I’m Mihoshi Ai, nice to meet you.”
“I-I’m Hajime Shiho.”
“It’s great to have a new member Hajime-san,” the girl with a tied hair approached me and added, “I’m Kasumi Umi.”
“Introduction. I’m Takahashi Azusa,” the emotionless first year said, “and the girl behind you is Tadakoro Rie.”
“Sheesh, Rie wanted to introduce her name by herself.” Tadakoro-san was a little frustrated after Takahashi-san introduced her name to me.
“So the only one left was the new member as well huh.” Mihoshi-san said as she looked at her little sister, “Mi-chan, come here.”
Her little sister heard her gentle voice as she came closer while hesitating a bit.
“I’m, I’m Mihoshi Mio. I’m pleased to meet you.” She bowed her head.
I smiled, “I’m pleased to meet you too. Let’s get along together.”
“So the introductions were over. Heh, Hajime-san, hopefully you’ll remember our names right away.” Shindou-senpai said.
“Ah, it’s kinda hard to remember seven names in one go.” I replied with furrowed brows.
Actually, I memorized their names the moment I’ve heard it. Nevertheless,I wouldn’t tell them that. First, my reason of enrolling to this school was not to stand out.
“So! Azusa-chan, Mi-chan, and Hajime-san…” Shindou-senpai paused, then continues, “Welcome to the Helping Hands Club!”

But I was wrong.
