Her involvement was the saving grace for me since I wasn't all that into the first season to begin with tbh.

So yeah, RIP

Yeah not gonna lie the lack of Matsumoto is killing the enthusiasm I would have had for a 2nd season. Her direction was a large part of the series' charm for me.

Well, don't you seem nice. I happen to be a big fan of Rie Matsumoto, I find her directing style really unique and fun. If you don't like her that is fine, people are allowed different opinions after all. But you don't have to be a dick about it.

i just see a lot of "RIP" comments cuz the director got changed. it is annoying and igorant and again sry for taking it out on you. my bad

thats cool but i dont think it should kill ur enthusiasm for season 2.

That's all fine and dandy, but I can't say I had much love for the series to begin with, so it's less about ruining something great to me and moreso giving me even less reason to care. I'll still give it a fair shake mind you. Might even rewatch the 1st season to see if it clicks with me better later. Moght be interesting to compare the two as well.

I still plan to watch the 2nd season. But this has hurt my enthusiasm regardless. As I never read the manga Blood Blockade Battlefront to me was far more a Rie Matsumoto show, then it was a Nightow work. And hearing after the fact that White and Black were unique to the show only furthered that feeling. I understand why fans of the manga may hate season 1 of the anime, and that makes a ton of sense. But as White and Black were the emotional core of the show for me, and Rie's directing style made the show feel truly alive and wonderful, (And yes similar to Kyosougiga which I adore) I just can't help but be heartbroken over her leaving.
