Ok, so literally no one seems to care about this upcoming re-adaptation of this very popular old school shounen manga (apparently it sold 14 million copies so far). I haven't seen the first adaptation, but I think it's interesting to see the trend of rebooting/remaking adaptations for older shounen manga. The PV looks really good and I'm looking forward to this, hopefully more people notice this one.

From the PV the animation got an huge upgrade compared to the first adaptation, it wasn't that smooth before.

About it being an hidden gem, it depends if they will readapt the fillers too, the main story though is very amusing and cute (with some rare let downs). I'm curious to see what will be the reaction of who never saw it before.

Really wonder how long this serie will be, it is a lighthearted comedy show, so having it compressed into 13 episodes would be horrible to see. Just look at the first adaptation of it, it was two seasons of 45 + 38 episodes. They could speed up the pace and cut out the previous fillers maybe, but doubt they would still manage to compress it into a single cour without making a mess.
The studio readapting this "Production I.G." has many shows of 12 or 25 episodes, with very rare exceptions of longer shows, hope they'll go for at least 25.

(too much nostalgia for me in this one, I almost cried when I saw it in the anime list of this summer)

I am watching the first show right now (on episode 25) and I am loving it, It's like a less serious version of slayers with even more laughs and I am really enjoying the show so far.

After seeing the PV for the 2017 version I am pretty pumped for this <: when does the first episode air? is there a date yet?

As someone who recorded the entire first series on VCR and rewatched it about 20 times, I can confidently say that I am hyped. My advice is to go into this series expecting lots of laugh and love for these characters, with a lot of RPG elements. Don't expect anything too deep.

But yes, it is a hidden gem. I just hope this new series is half as hilariously fun as the original. I trust Production IG quite a bit.
