Aside from the staff that'll animate this, I can't be the only one who looked at this key visual and instantly asked myself "who dat? that Kino? hell naw that ain't mah Kino </3" right? She seems so much more...sleeky. And not in a good way. The clothes make her look like an officer of some sort as well, I mean, they kinda look like the sequel movie's design, but this one seems to bother me more for some reason. I'm skeptical so far :s

I myself have no problem with it. Most of Kino no Tabi art looked this way since many years. it's only the anime that made her more bulky, likely to easier animate her.

Don't quote me on this, but I heard Kino's clothes were patterned after a German army uniform in WWII. The author is a weapons and military otaku, so no surprise there.

so you don't like the novel artwork?

"among monsters and humans, there are only two types.

No, not much to be honest. I preffer the more tomboy-ish look of Kino in the anime. Here she looks much more feminine.

Hmm well to be honest here, it's kind of a balance between the original novel and anime(from the early 2000) with the new style from Dengeki Bunko's prints, I'll just assume that this cover is stylized (just as many anime has these days) and it might look better or simplified in the anime.

I actually kinda like it, not too round and simplistic as the original anime (which sometimes feels weird since only Kino gets this treatment) but not too feminine as the new novels portrayal.

That'd make sense.

I would suggest getting use to it as the novels are the most canon source on what kino is suppose to look like
