For me, it actually certainly did. Anime helped me with depression to be honest... with all these unique stories to look forward too as well, I think anime is definitely one of the best things that happen to earth. Its really that great, you will never run out of anime to watch too... so you witness so many different types of anime, and some might suck... but you will still watch a lot amazing ones though... sometimes you just gotta pick through the trash to find the gem.

So, did anime change your life fellow members???

I remember when I got to college and thought I should hide the Weeb in me cause people would think I was weird. But then one day I was talking to the dude next to me about AOT and Naruto and then next thing I knew the entire class was talking about anime with us, including the professor. Unfortunately I totally ruined it when I got a little too excited; stood up in my chair and started singing cause I thought it was about to be like High School Musical and everyone was going to pitch in and sing in unison which is kind of my dream but instead I got kicked out of class that day and later got my ass kicked in the dorm bathrooms by a couple of dudes who said in the class they liked Naruto which must've been a total lie cause Naruto sees the good in all his enemies. So now when I'm out on campus I emulate Sasuke and pretend I have his Sharingan's visual prowess. I stare at other students and if they catch my gaze I close my eyes for a couple seconds and then open them and shout "SHARINGAN". But I'm thinking about stopping cause I always end up blushing while doing it cause I have closet interests in anyone that looks like my waifu Hitagi Senjougahara from the Monogatari series.

Especially this bit was very true for me, until I eventually realized how shitty most Anime are though I still have plenty of good ones I want/have to watch so yeah it still makes fun watching certain Anime.

Anime made me think more critically and increased my standards in this medium.

As for what you said with Anime helping you cope with depression,
that is kind of true for me as well, though it really depends.
It can help me with it, it can make it worse too though,
depends what I watch in what period of my depression.
There are a lot of uplifting and soothing Anime out there.

(if you haven't watched the Aria or the Mushishi franchise yet, I can only recommend you both, as well as Usagi Drop)
The dearer you hold a memory the more painful it becomes.
