| It's too compressed for its own good, since it tries to tell every event prior to the main war in just 135 minutes. As a result you have all the highlights and a surprisingly good characterization for Cao Cao, but there's almost no build up between those major events, taking credibility and solid characterization away from the movie. It's decent but I prefer the 1985 movie focused on just the Red Cliff battle, which I assume will be present on one of the sequels of this one. |
