I know that Shizu guy will have a bigger role. Will there actually also be a story arc this time?

Hard to say, but if it goes long with the tone of the franchise, it should be episodic with the only connections being the reoccurring characters. No idea how this adaptation will actually conduct itself though.

From the look of the opening that foreshadowed that guy,

that arc will probably be the final arc and be a lot more explored instead of just being episode 4 like the original series.
