| I've noticed that a lot of its fans can't really seem to understand why anyone would dislike inuyashiki so I'ma give you two reasons...There's more than two but I'm lazy. 1: Hrio is an extremely bland protagonist. By that I mean he's almost always emotionless. He has no goals, he has no inner monologue, he's not intelligent, he's not even redeemable. The viewer is literally given no reason to care about him other than "lol his mom died" and "lol he's so edgy look at him killing all these faceless characters you should be disturbed by him." the anime makes him the antagonist and expects you to become deeply invested in him....When he has all the depth of a puddle during a heat wave. 2: Every death is pointless or forced: The only characters that die are literal shonen cannon fodder and they die in droves. And make a big show out of it.. The only relevant characters that die are the ones that needed to die for the plot to happen. Which explains why they stay dead...considering the main characters can bring people back to life. ^ This anime is just one big problem from head to toe but I thought I'd just point those two problems out |

I disagree. Hiro is anything but a bland protagonist. His psychological mechanisms are well explained throughout the story. It just that too many anime watchers want long flashback and detailed tragic backstories to sympathize with the villain. A villain is a villain no matter what motive or reason they may have to kill and destroy. They exist purely to be a threat to the main characters and raise the stakes of the story. Hiro does that just fine. He is obsessed with manga fictional characters and disregards the life of any person who isn't in his social circle. It is implied by journalists that divorce of his parents, parental neglect has wounded his psyche and made him disconnected from society. It also explained in the story that he was killing pet when he was young. Furthermore, it is explained that Hiro has developed a bloodlust when he saw a man jump in front of train earlier in is life. Sociopath who kill because of their bloodlust exists in real life. It is well documented google it! What more explanation do you want? I praise the author for planting subtle details about the motive and backstory of Hiro throughout the manga instead of using detailed flashback and overdramatic backstories like some other popular anime do. It is cliche and boring for me. You don't have to sympathize with Hiro but he still has some humanity in him and that pushes him to take extreme actions when the things he cares about are being attacked. |

To me, all the individual relationships between both the main characters and those they are close with are really weak. As such it creates a really poor backdrop for the interaction between Inuyashiki and Hiro. |

I totally agree with this comment about point 1 (Hiro). He's not shallow, he's a sociopath. About number 2 (the deaths), I would say that most of them happening for no reason is deliberate. Hiro is like a real life terrorist, he doesn't even know the people he kills, he just wants to kill as many people as possible. We're not supposed to care about them because we love the characters, we're supposed to react like we do to mass shootings: with shock. Also, they can't bring people back to life, they can only heal someone who's still alive. That's why mr. Inuyakishi suffers when he gets to the places too late, he can't save anyone if they have already died. |

| I kinda agree to the Hiro part, that his character is rather bland, even though he is supposed to have psychological issues and stuff, I mean, even then, I didn't have much sympathy for his character with a few exceptions: when he found out his mother had cancer and when she killed herself, i felt kinda sad for him, but nothing too intense. The issue about the deaths usually being insignificant, i completely agree. Also, people's reactions to both Inuyashiki's and Hiro's robotic bodies in public, and to the death and destruction that Hiro caused felt extremely unrealistic. Even though all of these issues(and others not mentioned) almost did not took any fun away from the show. I didn't care at all, I was enjoying watching it, and felt really excited for every next episode |

| well haters dont have a reason to hate and i can see that in ur 2 points . every anime have its haters : they do watch the hole series then they dont like it so they try to find some reasons to make the anime looks bad however those reasons are what made the anime good for others . conclusion: there is no single person who love a show and gonna hate it after seeing countable reasons why or the opposite . |

The reason why Hrio isn't a good villein os because he's an extremely robotic character...Instead of having any semblance of personality he's closer to a walking checkbook. It extremely clear the mangaka behind this anime only cared about making a one domesnional character reactionary character. Which is evident by the fact he doesn't learn from any of his mistakes.... Hrio told his friend that he wouldn't be caught because he wasn't using bullets. But for some fucking reason when he does get caught he decides to go around slaughtering people again and gets surprised when the police find him a second time..Since revenge ended poorly for him the first time Hrio thinks that's it's a good fucking idea to attack the police station and then destory tokyo, inysuhiki shows up and stomps his emo ass and Instead of admitting he got his ass fucked by the old man before skipping country. He decides that the best thing to do would be to pick another fight with him. I mean yah this guy fucking tore my arms off my body but I feel good about my chances now. Pretty sure I'm lighter without those things weighing me down. Sorry but no one that fucking stupid would make it to highschool. I think Hrio might not be able to understand why people are upset with him because he's mentally retarded. That would make sense considering all the stupid choices he made in the series. |

Hiro is a compelling villain for me and I've already explained why in my previous comments. Inuyashiki is the AOTS/AOTY for me and that is my opinion. Nobody is forcing you to like this anime or its characters. Inuyashiki wasn't made to please every anime watchers in the world. |

Kittens-kun said: Yeah, I really don't understand why this gets so much praise. It was decent, definitely not trash, but above an 8 and AOTS/AOTY? No way. To be fair, 2017 was not a very great year for anime. So many people hyped up shows that ended up being disappointing in the later seasons of last year. That was probably still fresh on people's minds when they watched this. Also to the whole Hiro argument, I would not argue that he was a bland character, but he definitely could have been executed much better. He literally just stops killing to start saving people, only to end up killing again. The transition was absolutely jarring. I loved this series, but I won't deny it's shortcomings. The first three episodes were definitely the best in the series, and are probably the reason many rate it very highly. |

| I genuinely enjoyed the show, but I dropped my score from a 10 to 7 around episodes nine. I started to get annoyed with the methods used to kill. I can have suspension of belief for Hiro's finger gun.... and alien technology? Sure, yada yada.... but killing people through screens? I have to draw a line somewhere and my line is there. It just ruined the believability the world had built for me. It became pointless killing for the sake of shock value and not for the sake of Hiro's character depth. It ruined the whole premise for me. |

| The first 2 episodes or so were good, then it goes downhill, the thing is, i just found out that the manga is from the creator of Gantz, and now i feel tricked that i watched these screaming fucks while i could've read the manga. Should i still read the manga, even though i am most certain i won't like the story by the end of it? |

| When I watched the Episode 2, I nearly dropped this show because of Hiro but I'm very very curious why he's like that so I continue it.. so I'm not shocked why people don't like this anime.. everyone will hate it because the antagonist don't have solid reason why he's a murderer, even knowing his reason... still it doesn't justify it. |
