Jesus Christ, that scene with the throat slit looked brutal.

This show is getting darker and darker. Also that monster-like tongue. Yikes.

damn that first story was really good I'm a little disappointed the main character didn't go insane or commit suicide at the end I mean he could have at least confessed. It was a pretty interesting story but we only ever heard about those who's love will never be realized you'd figure all the suicides would keep people away from the crossroads pretty boy instead of searching for him unless there were those who's love was realized but we'll never know since they never confirmed any. I swear I thought ryuusuke was going to be murdered by those he killed or forced to wander in that foggy crossroads for all eternity but instead he was spared a twist I was not expecting.

the second story wasn't that bad just too short I mean the head of the girl became the shell for the snail and it looked as though she was still alive so her parents are pretty much making her suffer. I can understand why they wouldn't want to kill it but honestly they really should have killed it or at the very least have the parents go insane and treat the snail as their daughter.

Hmmm... My feelings continue to be mixed. There are some really interesting ideas, but they all boil down to "here's this weird, freaky thing that happens but will never be explained." And that works on a horror level, but the fact that they don't get explained and we often don't get any sort of real conclusion (the Pretty Boy Crossroads segment this episode was particularly guilty of this) creates a lot of unresolved anti-climax that annoys our inherent sense of how a story should go. You can make anti-climax work, but this isn't really doing it for me... I'm left with that same sense of irritation I had after watching It Follows, and I don't like it.

That said, the ideas themselves are really interesting, I just wish they were explored deeper, and the Pretty Boy Crossroads segment was going really well and had me enthralled right up until it just... ended. Even a simple "and then it was over... or was it? *DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUN*" style ending would have helped it feel more like there was actually an end to the story and not just "wait... that's it?"

Why should there be an explanation to why everything is happening? Most of these are short stories, and that's part of the style of Junji Ito. Not everything needs to have explanation. It's not supposed to be complex. He just turns everything that is seen to be normal, upside down. Most of the reasons why stuff is happening in these stories is because of a curse. Some stuff could be left to the viewers' interpretation.

The fortune telling story to Junji Ito is all right in the manga, it is a bit dragged out in the manga but just the first chapter being adapted leaves so many unanswered questions out for the viewers. Why do they keep choosing the weakest or longest stories?

Loved the slug girl though, just as disgusting as in the manga! Hahaha! I keep liking the short stories more than the longer stories. They could've had 3 short stories per episode instead of 1 long and 1 short?

this episode really gives me a fair share of spookiness, so it's really good. the art is not like the last episode, it's well drawn, both of the story really convey the gruesome and disgusting aspect pretty good.

the first story itself really makes me curious about what will happened along the way, i never read this short story before, so i was really anticipated it. this is a pretty simple urban legend type like story, i thought the end will be pretty gorey or something, but that's fine too.

i dont know slug girl can be put on duration that short, i thought it will need a longer one, but i guess that's fine. slug girl is very simple and straightforward, another reason why i love Junji Ito's work

so probably there will be 18 stories left right, oh boy i can't wait.

Well, I wasn't too impressed with the debut episode but the episodes have each been better than the last. Enjoyed both of today's segments. The slug was disturbing and the crossroads part was eerie. Was the MC boy turning into a crossroads fortune teller too?

First story... Not even scary at all, it just feel like some sort of psycho go around killing themselves.

Second story, it just give me a 'meh', no reason of before and after or even middle ....

To be honest, Ito Junji's stories are just 'meh' beside corpse-like human drawing.

The thing I love about Ito is there is no moral in his stories, just like actual paranormal creatures (if they had existed) it's just chaos. They don't care if you are good or bad they just fuck with you regardless. That's why his stories are unpredictable and weird and just end suddenly.
That's why it was fun to see the main character and main female get away in the first story. The second story I knew what was going to happen even before i read all of his works. It's tough with the second story being limited to 3-5 minutes to get it all out and explain it correctly.

Still the best anime of the season though

lol yeah
the unexplained parts are part of the reason why his stories are so creepy
and whether the MC is a good or bad person, anything can happen to them

also I wonder has anyone figured out how they're picking the next stories? Which stories are collection 34 and 60?

You're watching the wrong series if you expect any slight explanation behind 90% of the stuff that happens in Junji Ito's stories lol. The vast majority of his stories relies on showing the weird shit that happens rather than telling the people who are reading about it. There are a very few handful of his stories that actually explain what's going on, a lot of his stuff has open endings that leave you super confused. It's not for everyone.

First episode that really made me feel unnerved. Still wish they would give us a little more in the form of closure but I can see that this is just the type of horror the author intends to portray so I'm cool with it.

I really liked the episode but it kind of sucks that the anime will never be able to capture that signature creepy style that Junji Ito has in his manga. https://i.imgur.com/UcyjBT8.png

It just simply won't ever really translate well into an anime and looks a lot better in the manga when it's still, and black and white. With that said, a lot of the body horror stuff can look and be a lot creepier than the manga if they continue to draw and animate stuff like the Hellish Doll story.

I'll take the trade off, though. I'm a huge Jinji Ito fan and all of the stories so have have been able to retain the creepy and unsettling vibes that the manga has , it's really nice to see these get adapted into an anime.

Thought it was pretty good, but I really don't like the anticlimactic endings to the stories. The slug story worked well, but the Crossroads Pretty Boy was very disappointing with its ending. It ends too abruptly and while I do appreciate open and unexplained endings, this is just frustrating, to be honest. I do love the art style and the atmosphere of both of the episodes, though.

The episodes are getting darker and I'm freaking loving it.

I thought the first half deserves the whole episode or at least 2 episodes, or is it where the manga also ended? Gaaaah. I needed more. I want to know what happened to Ryuusuke and that gal. And why that ghost helped him despite of him being the reason why she killed herself. So scary, tbh, especially when that Midori's friend started being so obsessed with him and she sliced her neck. What the fuck. And somehow I think it's that pretty boy fortune teller guy's fault and Midori's friend ain't exactly in love with Ryuusuke. I maybe wrong.

And that thing with slug. What the fuck. Her tongue turned into a slug? This made me hate slug more. What the fuck.

I s2g this anime is making me uncomfortable and it slowly depicts Ito-sensei's works. Gaaah. Fucking loving this show. Can't wait for the next episode.

5/5. <3

P.S. WHAT THE FUCK? ONLY 12 EPISODES!?!? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I WANT MOOOOOOOORE. ;-;
