Sadness and sadness. Anne is going to be in an orphan, the teacher wails pathetically. Nothing seems to be of order. Her outburst was the only Anne-like thing in the whole episode.

I don't know why people write that they are approachable persons,
if you were you wouldn't be on MAL.

Extended families or lovers on MAL are a farce.

This episode was so cruel. Watching the children being separated and selected like objects.

Poor Anne. Every time she manages to find something positive within her dysfunctional adoptive families, fate just decides to ruin her life once again. This time she's really going to the orphanage.

Thus begins probably the best and most well-paced arc of the show. And the one that leads into Akage no Anne, explaining why Anne so desperately wanted the Cuthberts to adopt her. It's good to watch the whole thing, but I start repeat viewings here because it's a solid arc leading right into Akage no Anne which I think is superior. You get to see how hard life was for orphans back in the day, you get to know all the girls a little bit, Anne has to humble herself a little bit, and finally she achieves her dream of going to Prince Edward Island.

The Asylum arc is the logical end point for Before Green Gables. The last sorrow before Anne finds a better life.
