THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
This episode was kinda creepy....like one of those episodes trapped inside a city with monsters or zombies except they are malfunctioned machines.

I'm kinda curious to know Snowdrop's real intentions. Her role in the series is so mysterious. At least she got some lines this episode rather than just being in the background. Somehow, Yuuka got involved in this as well. Wrong place, wrong time.

Lacia's still fighting as usual but hey at least she's sane unlike some of the others. That confession though.

I was a bit taken aback by the surprising new HIE zombie invasion storyline addition, lol!

I hope that Snowdrop, Lucia, Methode and Kouka start kicking their asses and kicking their asses good!

The hIE zombies attacking other hIE was just too amusing. Yuuka got kidnapped, but I didn't care. Ryou has now teamed up with Methode. His argument with Arato was unbearable. I cringe every time they have that talk.

Hmm its nice that we got to see the events that happened in the apartment when Arato wasn't here. Ryuo is really stuck on his views that all HIE's are objects isn't he. Quite the situation that Arato found himself in. But its nice that in the end Arato was able to make his feelings for Lacia clear and thus turning the situation around. The uncorrupted HIE's showing up to destroy the server sure was unexpected. A pretty fun episode that showed just how much Arato and Lacia has changed. Wow what a shock ending though. This episode kinda reminded me of a zombie movie due to the way the corrupted HIE's acted.

hIE's running amok along with the terrible OST was so hilarious, especially the part where one hIE beheaded himself with running against the door of the car haha. At times like these this anime feels like the equivalent of american masterpieces like Sharknado.

The rest episode of the episode was fairly decent, but lol, another idot who's about to get trashed by Methode.

If Ryo teams up with Method them that's good since Arato is rather annoying for being this hIE lover, in fact he should been the one driving and hitting those zombie hIE's in front of Arato. Btw who is this Maria Saffron anyways???

So like... did Lacia destroy the sever by shooting that beam into the sky at some tall tower or a satellite or some shit and that's why the zombie thing stopped? Okay, holy shit I watched it back cause I was so confused and I think the her attack was supposed to be blasting a hole in the building destroying the sever and causing Snowdrop the leave, but the animators just decided to draw an already destroyed wall and have the blast fly through it. Lmao

The storyline and plot progression seemed out of sorts...
But hey, at least we had the romance come around. Main reason for watching right now though is Yuka's comic relief
Really because of how she spits "Baka" like it's fire, ha ha πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
It seemed as though Ryo has a thing for HiE's as well; or Methode has a thing for Ryo, either way it seems like another shipment

The zombie theme, for me, really didn't work; I mean, I guessed that snowdrop was behind it and it was for a sort of fear conditioning. Thought the generic, innate fear we find that humans have in zombie media

Let's see what next week has in store for us and hopefully Ryo's motive

As corny as Arato's confession it was, I genuinely enjoyed how further developed his relationship with Lacia. It was also good to see the unaffected robots come to Arato's help against Snowdrop's hacking. I'm a bit confused by that cliffhanger. Why would Ryo side with the same hIE that tried to kill his sister? That's just a violation of common sense. Even if this gets explored in further episodes, it still comes across as baffling.

Easy explanation. Ryo saw how easy it was for Arato to get some hIE pussy and decided to steal one for himself XD. *jk*

Maybe he thinks he can outsmart Methode but it's gonna bite him in the ass too, probably, just like with Hiyori. Although he might have already done it, wasn't Methode supposed to protect Watarai? Unless he indirectly got killed by the zombie hIEs (and we know that's totally fine in the codex lol). He does look like he got mauled hard with bats.

I also love how Arato and Lacia's relationship progressed, the latter ripping out her registration mechanism was especially adorable. I am kinda surprised this confession wasn't drawn out until ep 23-24. Glad to see the show starting to go through with its though provoking themes.

Snowdrop still doesn't give any fucks.

Baka mc saves the day. His confession & Lacia's reaction was actually quite a highlight over the zombie fun.

Nah, it just got halfway interesting and became less fun to poke fun at. It's still dumb in so many ways, but there are enough redeeming qualities to balance the amusement from narrative incompetence.

Like, I don't even know where to begin, this episode. Not that I blame him, but was Arato seriously not even going to consider complying when Yuka had a gun to her head??? Annoying or not, she's his sister! And this happens right after he tells the kid hIE to run for it after leading him to the heart of the conflict.

But then... there IS that conflict. It's very true that all entities are fictional to an AI, and bringing that up as yet another angle to the AI vs humans debate really puts an interesting spin on the whole thing. For every finger pointed at AI there's three more pointed back at humans. It's easy to criticize, but the differences are difficult to quantify the deeper you think about it.

Then there's Lacia's reaction to Arato's confession. More and more it seems the things she does are motivated by more than simple cloud behavior management.

That's enough to keep me watching, at least.

In case of a zombie outbreak, you have to go to a mall. Even if it are zombie androids. Also nice reference to GitS with the map shown by the navi in the car.

Ryo criticizing Arato gets aggravating and is wrong. He is the odd one, not Arato. And he finally showed his true colours.

The confession scene was interesting. It's nice to see Lacia's resolve. It made it even more obvious, that she is different from the others. And not in a negative way as Methode claims.

Remember when it turned out that Marina was switched out with another hIE? I am guessing that was Lacia's work then. She did actually say it got taken care of but I only thought she got rid of the serial number not snatch her and turn her into her servant lol.

Another interesting episode, with lots more thematic stuff to contend with along with some new powers for Lacia that we haven't seen before: namely, her ability to move between HIEs to see what they see and also her ability to take control of them if necessary, the latter of which does a good job of countering Snowdrop's petals. However, even if Snowdrop's goals and role in the plot still aren't entirely clear, the real threat here is Methode, and Ryo becoming her latest master is not going to end well for him at all, based on the track record so far.

I agree and I do not think 'Beatless' deserves it because its story is good.

Are we discussing 'Beatless' right now?

uninstallthegame said:
...dead at the middle of season already.

Diomedea adapted a one-volume light novel into a 24-episode anime. Maybe 'Beatless' as a 12-episode anime would be more enjoyable considering a faster development of its story and no recap episodes. Even with the recap episodes, the story development of the anime is too slow. Much patience needed to watch 'Beatless' but the journey is being good and there is a high chance the anime will have a closed ending because the light novel is already finished.

I don't know whether whoever's animating this even bother to watch the final product a few times to at least make sure things don't look horribly stupid. It's even more inexcusable in Beatless's case because it's literally done two weeks of breaks (recaps) in the spam of 3.5 months.

Take that example of Arato picking up the apple for the little boy in the end. Yes. That's probably 5 seconds of screentime. But why is it there? What's that scene doing? Nothing. Why does Arato and Ryou spend half the episode running around while more time should've been devoted to explaining what the heck is going on when Arato runs into Watarai? We don't know. But it's probably because the team making this doesn't even bother to check if there's any internal logic to anything this series is putting out.

And it's still incredibly unclear what each side's motivations are. Snow Drop says a bunch of words. Ryou is a huge POS for first plotting against his own friend and then allying with Methode (who literally tried to kill his sister) against said friend. Moreover, Ryou isn't just heartless; he's actively sadistic. Even if he thinks HIEs are just objects, you wouldn't just go smash up every object in your way, would you? But he's perfectly fine seeing HIEs absolutely destroy each other and think it's bad on his friend for caring. That makes no sense whatsoever. So what's he hoping to gain from Methode? Destroying HIEs? And he thinks Methode will just go along with that? At least Watarai is dead so we don't gotta worry about his vague lines anymore. But the way different camps are taking shape is just not at all clear and they don't bother to explain shit.

I would give this series higher marks if it just went for love-love sappy route with Lecia and Arato. No, Beatless only pretends to have depth and wastes everyone's attention span doing so. I am perfectly willing to go to the source material for good series, but I can't even muster up the desire to do so for Beatless after watching 3 months of this trainwreck.

Big Props to Arato, The Man. Now that's a win in my books.

In all seriousness, this really is the most enjoyable thing I've seen from Diomedea since last year. That doesn't say much considering how much of a shitfest they were last year. And really, my favourite thing about it is Arato and Lacia. There's just something so sweet about their interactions and relationship that doesn't seem like they are overdoing it and actually makes me support them. That's far from what I can say about Clockwork Planet I can tell you that.

But unfortunately, for everything else... they make me question why am I still following this. I guess the main reason is just seeing a show like this getting 24 episodes. That made me extra curious. At this point, any hope I have that this would be something great are pretty much gone. But I want to see it till the end. I'm already halfway through so might as well. Regardless, I'll be happy just to see Arato and Lacia more often. ^_^

100% he'll be stabbed in the back, unless, he stabs Methode first. I mean he has to hate her since she nearly killed his sister.

Crazy episode with the siply confession and Watari dying so suddenly, I was actually starting to like him as an antagonist, his logic reminds me of Shougo Makishima from Psychoo-pass (obviously not as cool though), I'm sad to see him go. Props for the creepy ass scene at the end of the episode.

i think the same. The HIE slut tried to kill his sister and then helped to kinap MC's sister at the same time tried to kill him. But the guy is now working with her( WTF).

all characters are so confused. I do not know what they're doing and why they're doing it. I feel that this anime abuses complex and meaningless phrases just to seem more philosophical and intelligent, but in fact they are just a heap of meaningless phrases. An example of this was Watari's explanation, which to be honest I understood absolutely nothing of what he said.

Surely this anime has one of the worst stories I've ever seen, everything is so poorly told and developed that I feel like laughing at that crap.

Don't really know what happened here. The guy had all the time in the world to shoot Yuka after Lacia rejected his ownership change blackmail. Then he runs off and gets mangled offscreen while Snowdrop does....nothing (as usual), even though she's supposedly a threat that stops Lacia saving Yuka. Then Ryo is now Methode's new sugar daddy since Ganja/Ginja/Gijinka/Whogivesafuck is dead from whatever. Looks like the anime has finally dropped the pretenses of Ryo being anything other than an antagonist, took long enough.
