No Game No Life (light novel)
| Why did the robot race need to be sacrificed? Was it to absorb the power and give it to Riku? Why was Riku saying he "lost" or "screwed up", when in the end, Tet took it? Was Riku trying to use its power but he failed or something? |
| It wasn't the entire Ex-Machina race, but yes, they can analyze and replicate any attack thrown at them (just like the dragon's which Schwi later used against Jibril, and the Heaven's Strike used by the Ex-Machina to bait the Elves and Dwarves to attack the Flügel). Since that giant energy orb was so powerful and huge they probably needed almost all of their race to be able to absorb (though that part is not sure) it and replicate it for Riku, so he can use it as a single powerful beam to destory the planet and subsequently summon the Suniaster. He couldn't reach the Suniaster with his remaining hand, as it burned off either because of the destruction of the planet (and the energy it released) or the Suniaster itself is too powerful. He thought he failed if he couldn't take it, since all the sacrifices he had to make (including the life of Schwi) would have been for naught. His plea summoned Tet, and prayed for him to take it even if he screwed up and failed to take it himself. |
