It was nice to see these characters again, but taking away any sense of nostalgia. I found it pretty average MI, though I highly doubt it was aspiring to be anything more.

Damn the worst nightmare to happen, not the part of being stranded but being stuck with three worthless people who can't think of anyhting outside of getting drunk, partying and leeching of people

I really liked Godai's daydream where the three stooges died

As much as I hate this franchise, it was fun seeing all of them again; they were assholes just like all the time :)

Quite interesting how it was Yotsuya, Mrs. Ichinose and Mitaka to die there. I guess he likes Akemi more than the others. Or finds her less annoying, I guess.

As for the OVA, it's a very fun side story where the annoyance factor of Godai's neighbors was not an issue, as it often is in the TV Anime filler episodes.

Also love to see the friendly rivalry of Godai and Mitaka. That's always fun to see.

Also OP1 as the ending theme!

Well here I am, the last piece of content for Maison Ikkoku, there is one more OVA after this but I’ve heard it’s all reused material and I can’t find it anyway, so as far as I’m concerned, this is it for the series. It was a really nice episode honestly, I like that it returned to the early days of the series with all of the developments being undone, of course I would have preferred if this took place after the ending but it was a unique feeling seeing everyone back to the way they used to be after seeing how the show ends, besides the tenants who are unchanged lol.

And yeah I absolutely knew the joke would be they are not on a deserted island the moment they left it up to Yotsuya to search it, but the reveal was still pretty funny, like the tenants plus Kentaro are living it up but Kyoko is stuck with the two goobers Mitaka and Godai constantly vying for her attention lol, it was a good bit for sure. I also liked the style of this OVA quite a bit, it was crisp looking, really good backgrounds too, I wouldn’t have minded a few more episodes in this style, but I’m glad to just have one more episode to watch at least. And they ended it with the original OP, like we came in a full circle, very fitting.

And that was it, no more Maison Ikkoku, I’ve seen it all now, it really was such a good classic series man, such a fun ride, maybe one day I’ll do it all over again.
