 A website opened on May 31 announcing a TV anime adaptation of Shion Miura's 2006 novel Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru (Feel the Wind) about relay runners in university. This is the second novel by Miura to be adapted into anime. Fuji Television and Aniplex produced an anime adaptation of her 2011 novel Fune wo Amu (The Great Passage), which aired in 2016.Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru was previously adapted into a manga series by artist Sorata Unno between 2007 and 2009. Shueisha released a total of six compiled volumes under its Young Jump Comics imprint. While the manga generally follows the story of the novel, scenes from the characters' high school days are newly configured for the manga. Radio drama, stage play, and live-action film adaptations of the novel were also produced. The voice cast of the radio drama will not reprise their roles for the anime adaptation. The live-action film was distributed by Shochiku in 2009 and earned a total of 450 million yen in the domestic box office. It was named the tenth best film of the year by Kinema Junpo, Japan's oldest film magazine. Additional production details for the anime adaptation of Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru were announced in a press event held on June 20.
