Given that Hitomi went to see the grave right after the scene she reads Yuito's book, I'd say my best guess is that the grave his Yuito's. Also, she said she wanted to go see her mother with Kohaku, so it wouldn't make that much sense for her to be alone.
A final note, the tears in her eyes seemed more the tears of a lover who already knew she wouldn't be able to see her partner. Not how you'd cry when your mom dies.

This is just a guess, no certainties here.

Pretty sure the one she visited was her mother cuz you saw granny Kohaku's expression when asked about mommy dearest.
Then again, Yuito would be like 78 so him being dead wouldn't be out of the question.
Either way, that doesn't exactly matter.

Nope-it was Yuito's grave. You have to read between the lines-she never was close to her mother.

She never was close to her that's true, but that journey through time make her realize that she want to fix that, and as ridiculous as it sounds the first step was for her to visit her grave.

I also think the grave was of her mother.

If you go read the posts about ep.13 you'll find just about everybody agrees that it was Yuito's grave.

I think this is an "open" ending for free interpretation, so all theories are correct

I don't remember where I read that could be her mother, I prefer it this way.

True-but the evidence (as little of it as there is) seems to favor the Yuito theory as do I.

In part with yuito the scene is more dramatic, maybe in the future we could have an ova or something, and in there they can explain to us the meaning of that scene (showing the tomb's name), and they could show all Hitomi's friends in the present...I hope we'll have answers in a near future :)

You wouldn't want Yuito to not be in one of those graves yet. Do you want to see Yuito(77) hooking up with Hitomi(17)? It can also be possible that Yuito, Hitomi's mother and all their other friends are all already dead. Also, I have a question as to how Kohaku knew that Yuito won't see Hitomi in the future. Did she know that'd he'd be dying within 60 years?

It was def her mother’s grave, if it was Yuito’s how would she know where it is? It makes more sense for it to be her mother’s since she did say she will visit her.

In 60 years I would assume most of her friends would still be alive, barring accidents or disease.

No

Why are you asking this? Why do you think past granny knew that Yuito won't see Hitomi in the future?

You don't think Kohaku having been friends with the crew would know where Yuito is buried? It makes more sense that their family would not know where the mother's grave is seeing as she just up and disappeared when Hitomi was a child.

The entire anime focuses on Hitomi and Yuito. Narratively, from a story structure, it is only logical that the grave is Yuito. It has little to no impact on the audience if that grave was her mother's.

In fact, her mother has no significance other than to serve the plot of Hitomi losing her colors when she was a child. That's it. There's nothing else important about her.

I might be wrong, is it that they won't see each other again after 60 years or that they won't be seeing each other again ever?

The grave is 100% Yuito's as her mother is alive and had only left her/family.. Prove is in episode 1 when Hitomi is on the train traveling to the past at about 5m32s(give or take) you see a silhouette of her mother with a bag leaving through a door among her memories

It was definitely Yuito otherwise he would still be alive and she could just find him and join his harem.

ew

I wonder what the script said, "Hitomi visits a grave" or "Hitomi vists mom/Yuito/other grave"? Also, in that scene she is apparently taking flowers to the grave. Do those particular flowers have any particular meaning in Japanese culture?

i'm pretty sure it's not debatable that it was yuito bc she said she wanted to go see her mother with kohaku and this scene was juxtaposed with another scene regarding him, so i don't think there's really place for doubt here?

i really don’t want to believe this but i think it was yuito’s grave, it’s not like i have proof or anything but it is more like a gut feeling like when hitomi met yuito he was 17/18 and 60 years passed so it’s not like it doesn’t make sense and if it were her mother’s grave she would have visited it with kohaku because she told her that she wanted to visit her mother with her

It is Yuto. He got Covid and didnt make it.

Dark humour apart, that scene make sense because they loved it other and even knowing he could be married, just for care about him, she would run to meet the old Yuto if he is still alive.

The author killed him to avoid this situation.

People assuming that Hitomi would hook up with old Yuito if he was alive...

I really wanted them to meet in the future. It could have been a wholesome moment, just because they loved each other in the past doesn't mean that they would hook up.

This ending gave me that "empty" feeling. I enjoyed it but it also made me sad :(

I wonder if Kohaku married Yuito or did he die alone without marrying or having children with anyone because he only loved Hitomi? And hitomi would marry someone later whom she doesn't really love or if he had a son and grandchildren and now hitomi falls in love with one of her descendants?

In the end we saw Kohaku drinking tea with the book seller man who helped her to gather items back then (same glasses / hairstyle).
So I am totally thinking the grave was Yuito too.
If not they would have showed us the moment they met again 60 years after to make a BIG emotion waves through us.
