Why should i watch Ghost in the Shell?

I'm thinking about watching Ghost in the Shell, but i don't have too much free time, so i wanted to know should i watch it or not and why do people love this series

Since you don't have that much free time I recommend watching Ghost in the Shell 1995 anime movie instead. It is considered highlight of the series anyway. If you like what you see there you can always check out other titles in the series latter.

I watched it and really liked the characters and settings, but it was hard to follow since english isn't my native language. Are other series easier to follow?
