I'm confused! Help!

When I heard that the movie of violet evergarden was nearly here i was like ''woah calm down it's schedule for winter 2020"... but now I realize that there's 2 movies... Are they related? Oo are they canon? are they prequels? sequels? sidestories? Sorry for all the questions lol

There are two "movies".

The first one is Violet Evergarden Gaiden - Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll.
This movie will be 91 minutes long. It will be first screened at AnimagiC in Germany on the 3rd and 4th of August and in Japan theaters between the 6th and the 26th of September.
According to the title and the girl shown on the new visual, it will adapt chapter 2 of the Gaiden.

The second movie, Violet Evergarden Movie is scheduled for the 10th of January 2020. Maybe they will delay it because of what happened recently but I saw somewhere that KyoAni wants to maintain its release (same for Free! Road to 2020).
This 2020 movie will be an anime original. But maybe they'll include some novel content since they haven't shown everything on the anime series.
