Really wish they didn't have the mc running around wearing goggles, that crap is really unoriginal and pretty cringy by this point.

Interesting. I might buy the game. The mc is kinda reminiscent of Taichi with the goggles and stuff. He even has Agumon for a partner lol.

Edit: Well fuck me... I forgot goggles is a signature design with Digimon protagonists lmfao.

It its a dumb fashion yeah, but googles are very useful for a variety of weathers. And it's very normal to find different type of weathers like sandstorm or snowstorm in the digiworld.

Accuracy drop sucks.

Not so sure whether Toei did this, could have been outsourced top any studio or even done internally at Bandai because I know for a fact that Toei didn't do any of the cutscenes for previous games.
Also it's the Opening Movie of the game, as in a cutscene. Don't know why it's on MAL

I half agree with you about that. The goggles are tradition for the protagonist hence why they are goggle boys. That said I do agree that they could experiment a little. Marcus is one of my favorite Digimon protags and he doesn’t have goggles. Maybe they could have taken a que from Kyoko or Keisuke and taken a moment to stylize the goggles into something else such as sun glasses or something.

Soooo is this game going to be like a post-apocalyptic setting or something? Is Digimon finally going to tackle the survival-horror genre?

That's a tradition for the Digimon franchise. Don't mess with traditions.

Probably since the game isn't out yet, and this released separately. Wonder if it'll be removed after the game comes out.

Seeing as how God Eater 3's game intro is still on MAL despite stating they don't allow game openings, they probably would remove it if someone cared enough to report it, otherwise it'll just likely just be forgotten and left on MAL.

MAL doesn't allow game cut scenes. These items are not game cut-scenes. They are animated pieces which are then later included with games. There are also anime released within games https://myanimelist.net/anime/36866/LayereD_Stories_Zero

It's 2019, this is the marketing strategy companies do.

I don't know anything about anime within games but I'm pretty sure that's different than what's going on here.

My example, God Eater 3, is literally an animated intro sequence of a game and it was simply used as the trailer for the game and yet it's on MAL. They're not later included with the games, they are already part of the game. Unless you're telling me that something like Code Vein's game introduction can be added to MAL because it was used as advertisement at Anime Expo 2 weeks ago, because that's the same case as my God Eater 3 example, one which is on MAL and the other isn't.

If tamers wearing goggles are "cringy" then shouldn't every mc with hats in pokemon be like that too?

How do you know that? Were you on the production team? The fact is that there are full length animated pieces with unique footage released at date X to promote a game. Then at later date Y the game comes out and includes the animated piece that helped draw in customers. From the DB guidelines "The first release of an anime is the most important one". It does not matter what the production company did after with the animated piece. They could have slapped it onto a Fan Disc OVA or added at a bonus to a limited edition re-release BD Box set of the God Eater anime or left it as-is and never to release the game 'cause funding ran out. It being released with a game does not matter any more than it being release with a manga.

The concept of 'opening' PVs have been done before developers started including them with the games. The current norm is now to include them with the game, it wasn't before. Some games include them but aren't shown, you have to traverse to a sub menu and select it to view as if you were changing your BGM settings.

There is also starting to be a shift for dual 'openings'. Where an animated 'opening' is posted online and when the game eventually launches sometime in the future (some of these get release over a year later) it has a totally different opening cut-scene with totally different animation [these ones are not added to MAL as they are bonafide game cut-scenes].

Of course with anime now being included inside the games too, it's really fascinating to watch the marketing adapt to fast paced social media presence that can make or break a franchise (LayreD barely lasted a year before shutting down).

>Unless you're telling me that something like Code Vein's game introduction can be added to MAL because it was used as advertisement at Anime Expo 2 weeks ago,

I cannot be added if it was used as an ad at Anime Expo, as that's a foreign market. It can be added b/c it was used as an ad on Bandai Namco's JAPANESE yt channel on July 8th. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppfc-sSUsy0

>because that's the same case as my God Eater 3 example, one which is on MAL and the other isn't.

Nobody added Code Vein to the db to begin with so of course it's not going to be in the db.

Point, but at least hats can be made to look significantly different where as goggles are severely limited to how they can be designed.

So by that logic, you're saying we can add every game anime intro sequence to MAL that has been used as a PV/trailer simply because an official Japanese source revealed the opening animation separately from any gameplay even despite the animation just going to be used for the game's intro sequence with the fact that the videos are literally titled 'opening' and regardless of how long the game itself has been in development or even already done waiting for release?

They won't stop milking Agumon for god's sake, huh?

Not very impressive tbh. Guess we'll have to wait for how the gameplay'll look like. Probably the worst character designs I've ever seen in Digimon franchise. Cyber Sleuth, Re;Digitize and PSX games have 10x better designs than this.

C'mon, that's part of the charm of the franchise. Many people hated Savers because the MC was not wearing goggles and that had broken the tradition.

How can those girls be intimidated by someone who's dressed like a gay cyclist!

This was nice, and creepy at the end. I've heard of Digimon way long ago and this is my first watching anything related to it. I must say it looks good, I doubt I would watch a full series.

I wish it could be a full series too. I saw on the Nintendo Eshop that the game may actually be coming on 12/31/2021, so we can only hope for the best. Really excited for it, whenever it’s released!
