This was amazing, seeing these guys when they were starting out is almost beyond words for me. After spending so much time with them it all makes sense. Firstly, seeing Tokimasa and Yamashiro starting this company together tells us the two haven't changed all that much. We still saw Tokimasa’s nervousness, we saw him showing a bit of anger, we saw him watching out for Yamashiro’s back. He kind of looks like a Tatsuhiko with a longer face and less crazy hair! And his relationship with Yamashiro just makes sense, this is the kind of bond I presumed would be there from how close the two of them are. It was nice to see him excusing them as they entered the yakuza office. As for seeing Yamashiro, yeah… His boldness back then was clear, and I can see exactly how a man as confident as he was slowly got out of shape and turned into who he is now. Think about that scene where he got in a fight with the yakuza trying to show off his young fire, wanting to prove it hasn't died out. He may have lost before the Yokohama move but I can't imagine this Yamashiro would have went out that way. He strolled right into the office despite the situation and tried to solve it, introducing his company while he was at it.

Everything felt pretty right, but this meeting Yamashiro had with Seki and Seki himself are definitely something to talk about. I was blown away when we saw Seki getting his ass beat by Yamashiro but even more so when he started to cry. Maybe he is as nice as Amano says, it was completely like the Otohime scene in One Piece. “When you die in front of other people… think about how they feel having to see that!” with tears down his face. Amazing, just wow, I wonder if he still feels that way. Some of the men like Mako under him certainly don’t and we know how hardened Amano is. It makes me curious if Amano wasn’t always as harsh as he is today, he casually speaks of killing people or people dying. Going off that line of thought we can see how Seki was brought into Yamashiro and Tokimasa’s company but I wonder where Mako came in! I also wonder how Tokimasa and Yamashiro met! Childhood friends maybe? Tokimasa has Yamashiro’s back and he’s been with him through all of this!

Anyways, back to the other point, SEKI!!! A part of me thought that young Seki would be more of a Tatsuhiko, but he definitely comes off as more of a Morinaga. In fact, he said he could tell just by looking at Morinaga that he came in alone and ready to die, now we see that he was that kind of guy too. I did feel some form of respect between them and you can even think of Tanishi as Yamashiro for Morinaga. Tanishi too saw the good in Morinaga and saved him and Morinaga gave him his loyalty. I think Parasite is a bit of parallel to Seki and Burst.

Immediately when we saw Seki telling that yakuza to pull the trigger I thought of Mako’s line when he saw Tatsuhiko’s ferocity, “he shows guts kids these days don’t have”. Well Seki certainly had them even if he used them to nearly get himself killed over nothing. We see that he was always bold enough to stare a yakuza down like we saw with Tsuchiya. I wonder where he was before these yakuza accepted him in, they said he was known for fighting anyone and anything. Yet again something that hasn’t exactly left, I’m getting flashbacks of him shoulder bashing a cop. I think what we saw here was some of Seki’s most prominent traits, he did not respect this guy, he believed he would not shoot him, and he challenged him. He did as he pleased and took what came his way. And to think about how he moved up in Burst, I think what needed to happen was he needed to respect his boss the way we see he has respected Yamashiro in the past. I wonder if Yamashiro saw something in Seki the way Mako saw something in Tatsuhiko, as I mentioned earlier I did think of Mako meeting Tatsuhiko as soon as Seki appeared in this chapter. Either way, meeting someone by them paying so that your organs aren’t sold is a memorable way to do it.

This is already making me like Yamashiro more! Also, I think Tokimasa is my favorite character with such a subdued personality in anything. As quiet as he can be, he’s left a mark on me and feel so real. And lovable and cute and a little scary. I hope he’s okay being left alone in Shinjuku.
