I did not read the original work. This is barely my suspicion. It is so interesting that Sakaido's daughter appears all the time. At first, I was thinking maybe it was because Sakaido enters the world, so his daughter was created by his subconsciousness, and he was obligated to solve his daughter's case because in the real world he wants to do so too, which triggers his realization of his identity in the well. But when the other murderer enters the well, Sakido's daughter appears again. And considering John Walker appeared multiple times. I think John Walker might have some connections with Sakaido's daughter. Maybe JW was the killer. From the second episode, I can tell JW has white hair. In a detective story, the connections/evidence to the criminal is usually introduced pretty early. Considering the head of their department seems not to concern his subordinates' lives. I wonder if their head was the real identity of John Walker, and as for the reason that Sakaido's daughter appears every time in the well as well as the reason for the detective to solve the crimes for Sakaido's daughter at the beginning of every entrance, it is probably the system (possibly has some personal connections with the head) that wants to hint everyone that the death of Sakaido's daughter is related to John Walker, ie, their head.

From what I remember there was a part in episode 3 where Sakaido mentions that Kaeru isn't actually his daughter.....don't know where he say it exactly, but I remember him saying "Kaeru isn't actually my daughter." Kaeru and sakaido's daughter in the flashback look pretty different too......I honestly haven't the faintest clue where the plot is going with that whole side point....

I just realized this is an original work. The newest episode touched the issue that John Walker is possibly connected with the machine they have been using (and prototype). I still suspect their head of the department to be John Walker as the top might know something about the truth of their system.

So you are saying the Whiskey could be related to the killer? It's a clue!
