| I'm so sick of it. They need to get a f*cking HOBBY. I have been threatened, bullied, harassed, insulted, and all this other shit for loving age-gap romance (ZackRay especially) But yeah, I started this club so we can discuss things we like PEACEFULLY. xD Here are some reasons why Antis act the way they do and my response: "It makes me uncomfortable, therefore it should not exist" DON'T GO LOOKING FOR IT THEN. "I was molested so I'm going to "protect the children" by protesting fanfics and fanart." Um...right. You go waste your time doing that while the real criminals keep hurting REAL kids. "It's normalizing bad acts and that's bad for people who watch it" ....do you really think people watching are INCAPABLE of telling 'right from wrong'? They're not BABIES. Even if they are dumb enough to imitate things, that's not the creator's fault. |

| Recently i've seen their numbers increasing a lot on m.a.l. forums, i think its because more of them are showing up and that makes the shy ones to also reply to their objections... Its sad how ppl these days not even are able to enjoy anime/vn/manga/novel without having the urge to attack something that they dont like, but they also are starting to harass and threat anyone that like this or that one thing in one of those medias for having an aspect into it that hurts their way of viewing the world. They are just wasting their time trying to keep on the flow of criticising stuff for being different of the values they hold, soon or later they will regret all of that when its their ''precious'' thingys that are getting scolded. |

Yeah I take a bit more of an aggressive tone with the people trying to police anime because I've noticed a lot of people are just giving in to their aggressiveness so I feel a bit of a need to counter it. The problem is people thinking all media has to be for them for some reason and trying to eliminate everything that doesn't appeal to them. One of my favorite things about anime is how a lot of anime series allow themselves to be narrowed down to a very specific audience instead of trying to appeal to everyone. But people running around, harassing writers and fans could ruin that. |

Oh yeah, thats what I also think is happening, and one of the bad things about it, is that they are like a virus spreading to anyone that have a slumbering grudge about something they can't even try to handle or forgive, making their numbers grow and grow everytime another thread is opened... I also like the variety of ideas that are presented to us, even though I fail to be pleased by many of them tbh, i still appreciate the fact that there are many ways of thought about an idea or design that I myself wound even think of. And following your sentence ''But people running around, harassing writers and fans could ruin that.'', I'm also thinking that all that 'drama' will make some authors affraid to even try and writing a different story showing their world view to those that truly enjoy reading them, because of some brats making a storm in a cup of water... To even think that some possible 'masterpiece' wouldn't even get a chance be released because of all that... is just sad, to say the least. |

But I think the distance being removed between writers and the general public through social media was a mistake. I think it was better when anyone who wanted to see a writer had to go to events to see them in person. Now anybody who has even the most petty of grievances can send harassing tweets or messages to people. It makes me wonder why anybody would want to be famous in this day in age. I'd rather write in a way that could keep me anonymous. |

Especially since 'anti-fan' voices tend to be a lot more loud and aggressive than the people who like it. Most people are just going to kind of like something or kind of dislike it. But now with social media, the people who hate something enough to take action based on that hate have been given way too much power. To the point where anti-fans seem to have more power than anybody. I don't know what to do about it per se, but something's got to be done about the level of aggression on social media. Its a very bad situation when anybody who's even slightly famous can get harassed by dozens of different people. |

Its a very bad situation when anybody who's even slightly famous can get harassed by dozens of different people. I might be getting a little bit out of topic here but... Its very interesting and hypocritical how nowadays individuality(having different tastes, points of view...) is being hunted by those who were targeted for being 'different' in the past... it just proves that they DON'T have enought 'maturity' to end the outrage cicle, but instead, imposing it to the new generations. These ppl will be aggressive towards anything that goes against their fragile 'shell' no matter what, as long as there is fuel to lit their fire... and there is not much we can do about it, since they usually avoid to be respectful to anyone that oppose them, thinking that their 'truth' is the only one that can be accepted. The 'anti-fans' or 'Controlers of everyone else tastes '(lol)' ', lost their reasoning towars the 'heart' of an piece, and might've forgot about it... I would like to compare it to a 'murder inestigation's resolution' where the public don't care anymore about the 'Why done it (the motive)' and just stick with the 'Who done it(the author)' and 'How done it(the whole piece)', in this cenario the public will go wild againts 'the author', pointing down at the 'piece' he had made, without trying to comprehend his/her 'motive', and this is what frightens, in this case, the 'author', to continue or even starting his story, because all he will see, are 'zombies (the public)', coming closer and closer to tear apart the tale he had written with love, into ugly pieces of nonsense... It is sad how a lot of ppl forgot about the existence of the 'heart' that is in every story. Sorry for the long text, but i like this reasoning about the situation that we are against to. And also sorry for not presenting a direct solution to this problem, since i still don't have a solid one. |

I've never met an 'anti-fan'/policer who was over the age of 21. Gee...I wonder why. So...yeah, I think it's a phase. I was sorta one when I was younger (not to the extreme of "YOU WILL AFFECT REAL LIFE!!") but I was simply intolerant towards ships I didn't like. Pretty ashamed for it now. ._. |
