This just caught my eye. It's shown that they travelled in that small carriage even before her father died, with 3 people.
Did two of them walk back then? Throughout most of the show at least one person had to walk because it would have been too demanding for Palikare.

And did one person sleep outside or did they stay at inns all the time?

This makes me curious about the events that happened before the fathers dead at the beginning of the anime.
Why did they suddenly decide to visit the grandfather? Was it because Edmonds business in India failed?

Why did they decide to visit the grandfather? Because Edmond died and he thought it would the best option for them to take. He knows his dad is rich so he would help them or at least that's what he hopes. In the first episode, they mention this.
