| [/quote] Hey so do you think this means they will dub season 1 + 2?[/quote] i think it all depends on the money. if S2 does good in Japan and it does good in English both in subs and dubs Aniplex will probably schedule the 'same/similar' cast to dub S1. now the movie? ahhhh... i doubt that will show up unless S2 does CRAZY GOOD in English and S1 does CRAZY GOOD in English too. but if S2 is a 'flop' don't expect S1 to ever happen. so, if you can afford it, buy the disks when Funimation puts them out. me, i'm on the fence with the whole 'IAMHS dub thing'. i'm glad it's happening but. shrug. i already own S1 and the movie in subs from Aniplex so even if Funimation puts out a dub disk set of S2 and moves on to the movie and S1 i'm unsure if i'll buy S1 and the movie. i probably will buy S2 on disk. i enjoy the franchise alot, but... the only subs disks i've EVER re-purchased the dub disks for was 'My Teen ROMCOM is SNAFU' S1,2. and the ONLY reasons i bought those is: Sentai put S1,2 English in one boxed set, made the set CHEAPER than 2 seasons i'd bought in subs added together, to encourage a S3 with my $, and i enjoyed the dub cast's work. i actually only have bought sub disks for SNAFU, IAMHS, and the entire Monogatari franchise. annnd truuust me when i say, the Monogatari franchise is EXPENSIVE AS HELL! not as many collectors/otaku etc. will buy subs only disks as buy dubbed disks. i don't think the delay in putting out the dub will make a huge difference in sales later on. i've been watching 'FireForce S2' all in dub from ep1 since i don't mind the wait on that one. it's not that important of a series to me to worry about 'keeping up with it in subs'. but i know Funimation's 'Dub from Home' system is crazy slow and seriously full of hickups and weird sounding VAs. i coulda sworn i heard what sounded like one of the 'Railgun S3' actresses recording in her bathroom... her vocal track for that one episodes' scene had zero background noise from Japan, no music, no chattering crowd, just her sitting on a couch having a conversation... and i could HEAR how reflective and weird her environment for recording was. maybe BangZoom! moved their people into studios one at a time with sanitary bla bla bla CDC rules etc. who knows. :> maybe BangZoom! recorded IAMHS S2 'from home' also. :) |

The worst dubs I encounter are usually of Sentai Filmworks !! ohh no, truuust me, NETFLIX does much worse. especially shows like 'AICO Incarnation'. i couldn't get past episode 4 in dub. the voice talent sounded like they were ALL on valium. entirely atonal, no intonation, no emotion in their roles, it was like rote deadpan reading of a script. Sentai's dubs are decent. they just take forever to publish and don't always include the on-screen kanji translations. watch 'Dusk Maiden of Amnesia' and you'll have to catch the last 2 or 3 episodes in subs because the highly important on-screen kanji scenes have NO translation or context from Sentai's dub. |
