Who is Tohru Honda exactly?

I'm kinda confused on who is Tohru exactly to the Sohma family. I understand that she knows about the cursed and she's also staying at Shigure's house but why all of a sudden she becomes all that important to the Sohma family? I know as well she will be the one that broke all of their curses. But why do all the Zodiac members have to meet her though? and why also akito is so salty towards her? she is the head of the family for god sake, why does she have to care much about Tohru. And also somehow the show makes that it is a must for the zodiac members to meet her as if she is a god. can someone please help explain this to me? I don't mind spoiler. The show has been great so far me but the only thing that confused me is the importance of Tohru towards the Sohma family. Thank you in advance for your explanation.

Fated bond vs Genuine Bond

Akito is jealous and afraid of her. The only thing akito have is the bond with the animals but it’s not genuine since the zodiacs love her out of obligation. The zodiacs meeting Tohru is out of curiosity as it seem she will be the one breaking their curse. And Tohru is just a plain highschool girl.

Tohru is an ordinary cute girl.Its not all of a sudden that Tohru becomes important to Sohma Family. Tohru helped Kisa overcome her trauma. Tohru helped and comforted Rin and became her only friend. Tohru gave Yuki confidence and helped him to overcome his personality issues. Tohru accepted Kyo for who he was and didn’t pity him unlike others.

Akito being the god of Soma family holds dominance over Zodiacs. But she herself knows that if she weren’t god to them; they wouldn’t care about her and wouldn’t think twice about abandoning her. By being the god Akito was above the zodiacs. In other words Akito didn’t belong in the circle of Zodiacs; she was excluded from them. But seeing a complete outsider Tohru getting along with zodiacs and the zodiacs loving her, she became jealous and frustrated and she is salty towards her. Watch season 3 to know more details.

imo it was Shigure’s fault. He just saw in Tohru a opportunity to provoke Akito and somehow it worked the way he planned. There were some talking about this between Hatori and Shigure along the show.

I can agree with that. Shigure is pretty sneaky and he will do whatever it takes to make sure his plan goes smoothly.

If you watch the first and second season closely, you will see how Tohru was helping them and seeing past their curse. In s1, Tohru is allowed to stay with Shigure, Yuki and Kyo because she was homeless, it was an act of kindness. Akito saw this as a way to control the zodiacs but this backfired. Tohru decided to move in with her extended family who are awful imo but Kyo and Yuki bring her back. This shows that even in s1 Tohru has had such a positive impact on the zodiacs. Shigure might do whatever he wants to ensure his plan works but his intentions aren’t malicious. The first season has a lot of information, it introduces you to the zodiacs and their own individual problems which Tohru attempts to help them overcome. However, imo Tohru definitely helps Yuki, Kyo and Akito the most (s3 for Akito). That’s why she is treasured by them all, she didn’t judge them, she wasn’t scared of them and she accepted them for who they are, especially Kyo. This is by far my favourite anime period. In the beginning I hated Akito (like most) but Akito is such a broken being and I love who they become in s3.
