| Solid. Took a few seconds for me to parse out what happened at the end which is nice, I like that the story required me to think a bit. And reading other comments on Crunchyroll made me appreciate this one even further (e.g. Sushipath's comment "Another name or variant of boar stew or hotpot, shishi-nabe (猪鍋) is botan-nabe (牡丹鍋"). A more depressing tale, I like that nobody was really bad here. Everyone else saw Botan as a Boar, the bully was just trying to help Nao, and Botan herself seemed genuinely friendly with Nao, who was also just trying to help her friend stuck in the trap. The curt art-style helped a lot too. Most of the art changes haven't been drastic enough to really comment on, pretty disappointing in that regard, but this one absolutely helped. |
