Apart from the trailer from months ago, there's been not a single promotion about it, for example other shows typically have those short clips with creative naming on crunchyroll's yt channel.

Any ideas why ?

maybe it has to do with the fact that the first episode has a rape scene?

Anime News Network too... After episode 1 aired, they stopped talking about it... There is not single article about anime after it aired

It's used to give context to the cruelty of the world. They didn't put it there so that viewers could fap to it.

It's obviously because of the rape scene in Ep 1.

You're saying as if that didn't cause any controversy.

The one who complained are just minority.... If you read the comments you will notice that is just small vocal minority who had issue with 'rape scene'.... Only like 10% at most

Goblin Slayer was so popular and even got movie and 2nd season..... Idaten is not because there is no advertisements at all and cruchyroll trying hard to hide it... Only way to find that anime on their website is to manually search for it

Ok, I don't know what even half of what you wrote has to do with my reply. The thing I meant was that due to the group of people (whether small or large) complaining about it, they did put the warning at the start from next episode onwards, unless it's the TV station which did that. Since they want to avoid a situation like this, they are not trying hard to advertise (obviously, this is just what I think and not a fact). Now, I don't know what you mean by the whole popularity comparison, but I'll try, Goblin Slayer was popular even before the anime came out. Moreover, there were some big youtubers who were talking about it, so the people who watch them knew it from there. Compared to that, Idaten isn't even translated in English and even the manga (correct me if I'm wrong) apparently has around 36 chapters only. Anyway, I probably misunderstood what you wrote.

In case of ANN it was predictable concidering its administratuion general views. As for CR, they probably just don't promote shows with higher age rating. It is even hidden in catalogue by default.

The fuck would that have to do with them promoting it? if they where scared of that they wouldn’t have licensed it to start with

If we're going off plausible theories, then it can probably be said that crunchyroll is aware of Amahara's previous work being cancelled for streaming services by funimation. Amahara already has a bad rep with these official streaming services so it would make sense for them to completely avoid his masterpieces.

nah obviously they wouldn't do that, they don'r really care who the author is, they just care about the mature content and that's it.

Tell me one anime that contains rape that Crunchyroll has helped promote? Crunchyroll has no problem in promoting ecchi anime, but they obviously wouldn't want to that with an anime with rape on it, so it has nothing to do with the author.

Berserk, SAO, and Goblin Slayer has rape n shit and they're on crunchyroll being promoted n shit

Of course they are held either high or low in regard, but should they really set double standards for idaten?

Berserk, Gantz, Goblin Slayer has rape n shit and they're on crunchyroll
lol and so what they are in Crunchyroll? I'm talking about promoting the anime, Goblin Slayer barely gets any attention from Crunchyroll and the same happens to Berserk.

As to my guess, I think it's a mix of reasons.
1) the anime started a few weeks late in the season.
2) while the r*p3 scene is given more context and reason later in the anime, the way it was shown could be viewed as insulting and disturbing to some. The easiest way around this is just releasing an alternate episode that implies the scene without showing the classical music and "dance".
3) Idaten is difficult to advertise without making it seem deceptive or making it obvious it's not for young teens/kids without using a giant warning label. Especially with the art style looking colorful and more cartoonish + the plot generally being the same to a Shounen anime. Casual/normie anime fans who see it on Crunchyroll because of the funny art the comedy tag would probably be in for a rude awakening when the more serious/problematic scenes start playing. Like when torture and brain surgery is casually mentioned as if they're talking about baseball.
4) Reputation, Licensing, Manga popularity, etc... anything else you want to throw might be a reason too.

Don't get me wrong, Idaten is a pretty great show if you're into what they're offering. I know I am, definitely a 17 and older show though. Prob would of gotten better advertising on Netflix since they have Devilman crybaby, Beastars, Castlevania, and recently Centaurworld (which I know isn't an anime, but wow it's basically a LSD trip of itself) and other shows that would be labeled as "problematic".

a lot of the times crunchyroll doesn't get the permission to promote stuff
and that's probably the case with this anime i don't see why they wouldn't promote it

Based on what?

Compare those series to Idaten, they get way more attention on crunchyroll than anything.

The only mentions Idaten ever gotten were the anime announcement and trailers.

You can literally find goblin slayer, sao, and berserk clips on crunchyroll. But Idaten is no where to be found.

Another theory would probably be the streaming/tv service they're on. Since they are airing on Noitamin, a specialized tv network for an older audience. It would probably serve as to why that they don't have the rights.

Pretty sure Crunchyroll never promotes the Berserk anime, and I guess you are right about Goblin Slayer, but like that too doesn't get much attention from them.

I'm just throwing this out, but do you think Crunchyroll being bought out by Sony who owns Funimation might be a factor? Forget about SAO because that anime is just a cash cow for the anime industry. But has funimation promoted Berserk and Goblin Slayer? Might be worth looking into to.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact this show was made by the same creator of Ishizuku Reviewers, I remember there was a problem with that show and Crunshyroll, like it got banned or something? I might be wrong or misremembering something.

Maybe the rape and toddler sex is too much for Crunchyroll 👍
I don't know how signatures work
