A masterpiece in every possible way? Or is it just me?

This anime is insane.

Average intellect characters in this anime would be giga geniuses in other anime.
So much happens per episode.
It's so fast paced dynamic and colorful.
Characters act rationally and play to their strengths fully.
Plot is consistent and things established early on are used even in later episodes (like how Idaten can come into being, its not just some random info, Idaten created even later on and concept is explored)

The consept of "masterpiece" nowadays is very random and exaggerated
This is a good anime but you can't take it seriously cause everything in its world isn't

The story, the pacing, the world building and the characters are good, but not top tier or masterpiece.
Art and animation, its MAPPA so its obviously amazing.

To me it checks the mark of all things that I wanna see in an anime. Since early on in episodes it had such an unpredictable direction, something that I rarely see in anime.

I dont know what show is a masterpiece for you guys Code geass? Death note?FMA?

it is entertaining and enjoyable...nothing exceptional for me

I like it with all those dynamic coloring and Fast-paced story but I feel like it just lacks something like background story for all the idatens on how they manifested

Too soon to decide as it seems to be just a small part of the story so far. But I've got to admit, while I'm always too analyzing which ruins my watching experience so often, what I have seen here is probably the most enjoyable show I've ever seen. I rewatch all episodes... twice... The character cast overall has to also be one of the strongest I've seen in this medium. Animation is unique and gorgeous. Story is simple on the surface but it's just really consistent with the characters - and these characters are seriously no joke.

It's a 9/10 for me this show didn't dissapoint one bit..

I won't say it a masterpiece but this is my AOTS. I am glab that I don't believe in scores because this was like a hidden gem to me. And probably it will be my top 10 AOTY. Plus, its OP is a banger, definitely my top 3 of the summer 2021. I have paused it at Ep5 and will binge it when it finishes cause thats the most enjoyable way to watch it. It will have a 9-9.5/10 score considering its end

As many say, not really a masterpiece but a honestly very enjoyable anime. One of the best this season. However, why does it feel like it skips a lot? But that's what they do in adaptions.

It's pretty enjoyable for blending goofiness with sex and morbid violence with some cool style and fights at that, but that's about it for me. Not enough to be considered great let alone masterpiece.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

It's definitely better than what I initially expected, but calling it masterpiece is a stretch. I agree with some of your points, though.

This series knows how to play with its strengths while lacking a dense plot in the first place. It's a solid second place for AOTS for me after Tokyo Revengers stumbled hard midway.

I'd diesagree about it beeing a "Masterpiece" or it's "rational" characters^^ That's a bit too much praise I think.

But it IS just good fun and far more enjoyable then Show's with allegedly more complicated or delicate Plot-Lines. True :)

The Style is what makes it really fun. Which bugs me a bit. Cause I don't want to rate it purely on looks. Can't deny tho...if Animations wasn't so smooth and Colors so vibrant and crazy it'd most likely loose a huge portion of it's appeal, for me.

I do find this anime very enjoyable. It isn't a masterpiece. But anime don't need to be masterpieces. The action and animation is good and for an adhd kid like me it is quite well paced. That said, it could do without the casual rape scene--a bit gratuitous and didn't really build the story much. I'm also not a fan of how easily Rin had her meltdown after she noticed the idiosyncrasies of the demon lord guy. All in all, barring a shoddy ending, this will be an 8 for me.

I only watched it because the OP lol.

Then my 1st impression was "oh, come on, another childish shonen"

Then i saw all the dark humor "hey, it is funny and also wants to be edgy"

Then i check how the heroes are kinda anti-hero and the villains have some layers and sometimes are more human the heroes.

My conclusion: Interesting, but just that. And a STRONG feeling of "I'm 14 and this is genius!"

Idaten is still a shonen for teenagers after all.

Unfortunately, people define master piece by complexity of story , animation and symbolism , or even anime that make them cry like bitches .. but fuck that shit.

I am enjoying this anime way more than JOJO or any other anime i have watched recently.

I would not consider a masterpiece but very unique and memorable, definitely something ill remember watching 10 years from now, unless a massive shift occurs in the anime industry a lot of shows like Idaten starts to air, which is pretty unlikely

I mean, its not the fact its a sex scene. Its more the fact its a r*pe scene that turned me off. I mean, I'd be more concerned if you didn't find it even the slightest bit disturbing.

Not for me. Definitely.

Loved the colors. Loved the animation. Loved the music. Writing is OK. Some good points, some bad points. Ambientation is good, character design also good, very stylish. Plot is also interesting, and humor is OK.

But sexual content is simple shock'n'awe level of bs. Barely no function over "I want to shock ppl just bcs". Rape scenes, sexual abuse of children later on, and other unecessary nudity that the show goes on and treat like it's nothing, and nonchalantly moves over like it's a silly joke. Casually.

Can't shake this bs off the show, so I couldn't give more than 6. I wanted to like it more, but couldn't. Unfortunately.

Just finished ep 11, and although this anime will likely fall into obscurity, I had tons of fun watching it, and it's probably AotS for me!

To be fair, this is not a 10/10 anime, objectively speaking, but it scratched an itch other anime couldn't possibly do.
For me this is a high 9/10, and I really would like to the average score to reach 7.90 or something...

Maybe this anime will be seen as a hidden gem, and the score will raise a bit, but only time will tell...

Same, 9/10 for me as well. Not masterpiece, but quite close and I enjoyed it a lot.

Btw, what the hell are those too review. Top one have so much like yet it's just preliminary review. The third one, with score 2, looks like it's written by someone that really hate the series and mappa studio. What the hell.

10/10 - this show is a real gem like Dorohedoro.

Not often these days that I watch whole eps without skipping anything, always nice to see gore & nudity done right with a more mature tone, not many shows impress nowadays.

Would have never guessed just how good this is based on the synopsis, wish there was more zzz.
