| When a series is catering to your preferences in such a clichéd way that you can't help but dig it. But I also gotta say that Heisuke wasn't portrayed as overwhelmingly powerful compared to the humanoid. I expected that tbh. |

| This was a nice bounce back. The encounter between Heisuke and Hidehisa mostly only briefly existing to showcase powers of the top Samurai (and what Ginchiyo will likely be able to do as the series progresses further) and the Mononoke's regenerative abilities works well. Especially since the fight was called off with the knowledge that there are already more humanoid Mononoke out there, and they were at least trying to band together (or at least, Yoshihime wants them too). The rest of the chapter was stronger, Heisuke was likable enough for his introduction, showed off personality and I liked how handled the Kusanagi situation. Pretty casual in his demeanor, and not thick headed enough to need an annoying amount of convincing, though I'm sure that'll happen at Headquarters. Nothing here is revolutionary still, but it's still well-executed shonen and at the moment, that's good enough for me. I'm glad that seems to be the take of the Jump readers as well, Doron Dororon's been doing quite good in the rankings, thinking this one will last. |
