| I’ve just finished the manga and whilst I felt the ending was rushed, I really enjoyed it. I’d love to see if turned into an anime but I have to agree with the other comment – there’s not enough action for the series to do well. People will watch it because of the “Attack On Titan” name but then be disappointed it’s not the same as the main series. Saying that, it does offer a large amount of world building for what life behind the walls was like before Eren’s time and the development of the 3DMG and swords was really interesting. Hardcore fans would love it but the casual viewer probably wouldn’t. |

Vigilante run its Anime on the popularity of the broadcast of the 7th and 8th Season of the main story, but Before The Fall has nothing to latch on anymore. If they wanted to adapt it, they should have done so during the run of the main story, but the Light Novels were released even before the 1st Season aired, then there was a 4 years wait for the 2nd Season during which the Manga was in its beginning so it would have killed its sales, afterwards, Wit chained the 2nd Season with the 3rd + 3rd Part 2, before dropping the franchise because of how difficult it is to handle. At that point, we could have gotten it, but the producers obviously were way too focused on the body of the golden goose for that, which had a lot of trouble to get its studio and still got schedule issues nonetheless. Once the main story was finished, there was no more hype to maintain the momentum, and fans already were wore thin of the multi-split release of the end, and its criticized ending. Overall, Before The Fall just was unlucky, the success of Shingeki no Kyojin was tremendous and took by surprise the industry, so there definitely was ways to make more money for the producers with it, but they were short sighted (can we blame them, tho ?). Adaptations of Extra chapters/Spin-Offs are extremely rare tho, so you should not take Vigilante as a reference. |
