| Hi! I just wanted tell my thoughts and see if there are more people who thinks like this. Could be a little SPOILER if you haven't watched the anime. So I just watched it and it is full of symbolisms. Like for example why he is the only one who can fight the aliens. Because it isn't about aliens. The anime talks about loneness, struggles of life, I would say even depression (not sleeping, eating, being sad). Even suicide - because there is this thought that the world wouldn't end if he would end - basically thinking of killing himself. Losing to aliens would be losing to mental problems he has at the time. This anime depicts a lot of emotional things an teenager goes through even a loss of a family member by using aliens and a phone, etc. There are a lot to entangle. I can't write it all. I'm just amazed how in 28 minutes they could tell sooooo much. He is the only one who can fight them because only the person who is lonely, has depression, social anxiety etc. can deal with it. Others can give support, but only you can deal with your own problems. The aliens are just a big symbolism for all the problems, that make the main character say that the world is not nice. At the end his eyepatch disappears, it shows that he now sees how it really is. He can see the people who were standing by him and he has overcome his mental struggles. |
