Finally got around to the first Hell Teacher Nube movie, it was really just a long episode (around the length of two regular episodes) but personally I like when anime movies are just that, it makes them feel more like the show. The production was quite good too, a step above the main show although not a super big jump, it was just enough to make it feel like a movie. About the content itself, I thought it was an interesting plot with a decent mystery element to it, like half the movie you’re thinking the criminal got possessed but it was actually the demon/ghost itself posing as the criminal so he can escape the “tengu pit”, although this came at the cost of the villain getting a worse design once he was unmasked, I thought he looked a lot cooler and spookier before that.
And I liked the focus on Kumiko, not sure if she’s gonna appear in the main anime from here but she had good development, she went from being super scared and timid to standing up to that asshole kid at the end of the movie, I guess he would seem like small potatoes after she stood up to the hell demon beforehand lol. Also, the criminal seemed to have had some kind of change too, like he was crying after the demon was defeated, you can’t undo whatever murders be committed but at least it seems like he came out of this a better person.
And unfortunately there were no new songs for this movie, but the original OP and ED are a great combo so I don’t mind them being used again here. And with that, I guess I’ll be getting back around to the main anime again, wanted to get back to it sooner but I kept putting this movie off until now lol. |
