WTF are you on! If Author was unhappy, what would have stopped him from making them a couple however he didn't! Also the original source materials of this series is Light Novel and there is where Kato and Tomoya ends up together and Anime adapted the canon materials. Of course there will be a various spin off where story can digress but that doesn't make them fucking canon. If you comprehend like that than, all doujin are canon too MF.
